Can a white heterosexual male business owner, who wants to compete for a government contract, simply "identify" himself a black lesbian and automatically qualify to compete for minority preferential set-aside government contracts? I'm sure he'd "feel more comfortable" as a "transracial" as well as "transgender" person if that declaration gives him a significant business advantage.

We must remember, the personal "comfort" and subjective "feelings" about one's gender is self-validating these days. Why not with race and orientation vis a vis government contracts?

Most people (Granted, only a handful, but I don't think all that atypical) I ever knew who had issues like this, kids in middle school, early high school, whatever, are dead. I'm sure they were just doing it all to gain some advantage, feel more comfortable, oblige some superficial feelings, or whatever before they decided to end their lives.

So are you saying that, if those people you knew had just been encouraged to use a bathroom they identified with, like some want today, they wouldn't have tragically committed suicide?

There's another possible explanation. Maybe those people you knew had profound psychological problems all along, of which the urge to dress up like the opposite sex (and perhaps to use opposite sex bathrooms) was just a symptom. Maybe it was their deeper psychological problems that led to their tragic suicides, not their bathroom limitations.

Gender is much more nuanced than you realize.

I think you have to draw a line somewhere. There are a lot of young cross dressers out there--with the hormone surges going on during that period of time I doubt they know what they are but--should we let the school kids go into any bathroom they want? any lockers rooms they want?

The bathroom is a place to take a piss, a shit, wash up, look in the mirror for a second. The idea that a public one is some fucking sanctuary is the major cultural problem here not which people are using it.

Here is my position:

1. What people do in the privacy of their own bedrooms between consenting adults does not concern me as a matter of public policy.
2. Men who like to dress up like women are not heroes or worthy of the exaltation they are currently receiving.
3. Men who like to dress up like women are still men. Their genitalia pretty much proves their gender one way or another. Penis = male. Vagina = female. It's really not all that complicated.
4. When men who like to dress up like women, their "identification" as women does not make them women except in their minds. See the foolproof test in #3 above.
3. Men don't belong in women's bathrooms.
