had a chance to take in New Orleans on Frenchmen Street this weekend. Snug Harbor is a fun place. Glanced in the Spotted Cat but didn't have time to take it in. Next time I go I'm hitting Lucy's Retired Surfer Bar and Little Jim's Saloon. Its great to be in tight with the tourism board there. Of course one evening we did Pat O' Brians, The Dungeon and Napoleon House. Pat O's was fun - they sat us right next to the piano players and after about 3 screwdrivers I was known as the Mayor of Cincinnati to the crowd. My shining moment was requesting Sweet Caroline and tipped the piano player to play it. If you are ever in a piano bar and it hasn't been played to death, just request that song and the place will go wild. I've been to Pat O's many times but always stayed in the beer garden /fountain area. They also liked me because up until then, no one was tipping the piano players - just some dumbass slapping metal serving trays like spoons. After that, people tipped to hear the requested songs - at least as long as we stayed.

Also ate at a couple of places I hadn't before - Palace Cafe and Bourbon House - both owned by the Brennan's.I say that like it means something but I don't know who the fuck the Brennans are. The palace cafe is where the piano store on canal used to be.

Both had amazing deserts - a white chocolate infused bread pudding for starters - but the entrees were eh. We did a tasting at the hotel and they served us steak with a crusted horseradish sauce on top. Holy hell that was amazing

So Mardi Gras World is owned by brothers named Kern, they had a big falling out and one of the broke off to open his own Mardi Gras World. He landed some deal with the people that make the show Top Chef, and while we were there doing a walk thru for our event, the contestants pulled up in a van and went to a competition. Whoever owns that show spent $500K building a studio at his place but they wouldn't let us see it. Someone who was with us and knew about the show counted the contestants and said they must be at week 5.

That said, the place is a dump and my team is going to get our asses reamed for recommending it.

We ended up at the Hyatt on Loyola. The big event is next month. We just went down there for a site visit this week to check things out.

I guess if it is not contested & assets are minimal, then the proceedings are quick.

San Francisco airplane crash caught on tape. The guy filming it is like "Oh my god!" the whole time, while the stupid ditz who is there with him (sorry, I know that's a sexist comment) keeps repeating in her airhead voice "You're filming it! You're filming it! You got it all on film!!"

Who sits outside and films airplanes landing? I mean, I'm glad he did in this case, but really, who does that?
