I'm surprised CA has been so slow in legalizing the kush.

If other states see massive tax revenue from legalization, you're right - the dominos will start to fall.

Cali is a microcosm of America. You have L.A., San Diego, Oakland & San Francisco as places of enlightenment. The rest of the state is Oklahoma.
I would actually include most of coastal California as places of enlightenment (Monterey, Santa Cruz, Marin County, Mendicino, Humboldt County) as well as much of the interior of northern Cali. I realize Sacramento is not usually considered a hive of enlightenment, but it's no Bakersfield. And Chico, Redding, etc., might not be as well-known, but they are virtual conclaves of neo-hippies. Further west, the Sierra Nevada's are home to viral pockets of liberalism. Oklahoma it ain't. Finally, California is fixin to legalize weed in November, then the dominoes will start to fall...
Wine Country (Monterrey, Marin County) and Weed Country (Humboldt and Marin County) are extensions of San Francisco & Alameda County. Yes, much of the NoCal passageway to Oregon is populated by hippies and weed speculators.

Professor - so many folks out here have "medical" MJ cards it's ridiculous. Might as well go full bore, tax it and use the proceeds to fund LA's new football stadium.

That's always been my impression of "medical marijuana." It means hundreds of little storefronts where you walk in, and tell the doctor (whose doctorate might be in French literature),

"Doc, I'm having have a bad outbreak of acne."

"Yes, I see. Worst I've seen all day. I've had good success treating this with Maui Zowie. Here's a scrip. Take this down the hall and Maria will fill it for you. Next?"

"Doc, you've gotta help me. I was out walking my dog this morning and twisted my ankle. Have you got anything that can help?"

"Yes, as a matter of fact I do. Here's a scrip for some Happy Hemp. Take one lollypop three times a day, along with a large pizza and Grateful Dead album. You should feel much better tomorrow. Take this down the hall and Maria will help you out."

I say dispense with the charade. Legalize it and tax it.

I was in SF last week, went to my favorite record store on Haight Street, there was a sandwich board out front advertising medical marijuana screenings upstairs...

Over the bridge in Oakland, they sell "medicinal" marijuana so freely they call it "Oaksterdam."

As it looks more and more like our next prez will be either Hillary or The Donald, I may need some medicine myself.

We were shopping on Haight Street, the young 'un said she wanted to smoke some weed so I walked outside and asked the first semi-derelict I saw where I could get some. He motioned me a few feet down the side street and asked how much I wanted, I said $20 worth and he produced two large nuggs on the spot. The entire transaction from the time I left the store to procuring the weed to getting back into the store took less than 2 minutes. It was killer weed, too...

Haven't smoked weed - or wanted to - since before I came in the ministry (28-ish years?). I have a friend - Vietnam Vet -who does the oil in the electric thingy, as well as the candy. Legit PTSD/Agent Orange & recent prostate cancer survivor. Gotta admit, he's much easier to deal with after he has a little Sativa.

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has to worry about a steep drop-off of the black vote that could imperil her chances of winning the White House in November, an analysis had found.

The number of African-Americans who voted in Tuesday’s primaries plummeted by an estimated 40 percent in Ohio, 38 percent in Florida and 34 percent in North Carolina compared with the 2008 Democratic primary when Barack Obama was on the ballot, reported the advocacy group Black Votes Matter.

Record numbers of African-American voters flocked to the polls to elect and re-elect America’s first black president.

Analysts expected some drop-off, but not the enormous numbers recorded Tuesday...

In 2012, the black vote provided Obama with slim margins of victories over GOP nominee Mitt Romney in Florida (50-49 percent), Ohio (50-48), Virginia (51-48) and Pennsylvania (52-47). It also put North Carolina in play for a Democrat for the first time in decades.

LOL.

There will be record black turnout in November, especially if the GOP nominates Trump or Cruz.

Kasich is a curious case, 8 years ago, he was viewed as a hard right winger. Now, he's at the same place but the GOP has moved so far right that he's now considered a moderate. Kasich, however, pulled 30% of the Black vote in his reelection in Ohio. I don't know how that would translate nationally, but if a GOP candidate could pull 18%-20% of the Black vote, the nature of the election changes greatly.

Of more concern to the GOP should be the Latino vote. If that continues as a 70% Democratic base, by 2024 the Democrats will own the ouse, Senate and 40 State legislatures.

So question with the conventions coming up and primary stuff still happening?

If Trump / Sanders / Clinton were to come out and just causally mention who they would like to have as a VP running mate, who would they choose?

Personally I think if Trump were able to find that Republican who hasn't really been mentioned a lot but is not bat shit crazy, would that be able to give his run a legit shot to win? Could Bernie use a boost like this over Hillary now?

Obama won North Carolina in 2008...
