so we have a foreign exchange student living with us for the next 3 weeks. Her name is Shih-Han but she goes by Nina. She speaks English but I'm not sure she understands it.

She wrote to us and said she was excited to try western food so last night my wife made chicken and dumplings which we though was pretty basic, she ate enough to be considerate but generally panned it. I got her a milkshake last night after that and she tasted it then sat it down. This morning my wife got up at 5am to make a cheese omelette for her which she pecked at until it was time to take her to school. Kids gonna starve at this rate.

very respectful , but I hope she comes out of her shell. She loves animals though - played with the dogs and cats all night and loved seeing the local deer come into to our yard to eat the apples and corn I put out for them in the evenings.

We'll do the typical things for her. I hate that her first time in America is in a suburb of Cincinnati. We'll take her to the zoo, a popular hiking spot around here, shopping at a couple of malls, I was going to take her to the Bengals/Colts game but I'm not dropping $200 for her to sit there looking bored for 2 hours.

Halloween should be a trip for her.

Well, she'd fit right in with the rest of the fans there...

lose all the big made for TV games early on, win the SEC, finish the season ranked 8th and a #2 seed and lose in the elite 8.

Man, I was just looking at Brandan Wright's stats and salary, the dude has made $5 million or more over the past 5 seasons and he has never averaged double digit scoring (not even close) or more than 5 rebounds per game (usually closer to 4 and a couple of times less than that), nor has he averaged over 20 minutes per game. His career averages are 7.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 16.4 mpg, and he is contracted to make just under $6 million this year. Damn...

Where is Nina from? Might understand the food habit. She might have grown up eating bugs.

Have her spend a day with my daughters, she'll never go hungry again.

who has semi-professional announcers for a middle school football game?

I can hear the games on Saturday from my house and in the afternoon they have an 11 year old announcing the games.

Oops... meant to put this on the football board..

I'm pretty sure this is from the Middle School State playoffs in Lexington. Game is between Boyle Co and Corbin and the sign on the score board says Bryan Station. Our Middle School played in the semi-finals a couple years ago at Lex Cath and lost to the eventual state champs by only 7. Games are televised via internet

Crotch, my friend, you can post anything at any time on any thread in here. We don't expect you to be able to keep up with which themes and topics are traditional to any given thread, we're just glad you're still posting at all....

Semi professional announcers? They sound like Andy and Barney sitting around Gomers gas station talking deer hunting.

I have to be honest, at this point, I don't have any desire to watch UK basketball

that might change, but in the past week I"ve heard 2 names of players I didn't even know were on the team and one of them is already hurt and out for the foreseeable future.

I didn't watch Midnight Madness because I have more of a connection with Drake than I do any of the returning players.

I actually turned down season tickets 5 days ago. You know how hard it is to get season tickets? 10 years ago I would have borrowed against my retirement to get a shot at that, and this time I had the cash in my rainy day fund, and I still turned them down.

Its not that I'm down on Cal, I'm just not excited about college basketball in general.

Now that the NCAA cloud has been lifted and UNC can compete with UK for recruits on a level playing field, I'd say that's understandable...
