not that I know what I'm talking about but I think twitter is going to have trouble determining how to make money - plus for now, all their money is going back into figuring out how to add users globally.

I don't think the stock will tank but I can't see how its going to noticeably increase once it gets past the novelty of an IPO.

anyone here up to speed on the Xbox One?

I'm wondering if a game has a common platform like Battlefield 4, can you play against people in a mixed 360/One environment online? Are the games made for 360 and One visually the same on both platforms? Finally, is One backwards compatible with 360?

Trying to make a decision on whether to buy Xbox One for the boy or not

I thought there was a huge backlash in the gaming community with the XBox One.?

yea there is - much of it is originally coming from gaming publishers who are demanding the resale market be shut down in order to increase profits.

Just like blockbuster video, the Gamestop's days are numbered when games and content all moves to the cloud. The idea is games will be cheaper online (not sure what the motivation is) but not sharable - and Microsoft is playing along by limiting game swapping to a "friends list" and investing heavily in cloud infrastructure dedicated to Xbox.

Sony came out and initially said they wouldn't support that model, but if the game publishers start pushing they'll probably cave.

What about the online free cell community?

My understanding is that gameplay won't cross but users of both systems will still be accessing the same Xbox Live network that exists so you can send messages and see who else is online, etc.

Xbox One has taken most punishment from critics but in my experience the hardcore gaming community is often dead wrong about products, and even about competing systems. A superior system at release sometimes loses because the content, or network, or other userbase sucks. That's not even getting into how they are sometimes completely wrong about demand for a product class like Nintendo DS, Wii, etc (ha, those toys, who would ever buy a Wii when you could get a PS3!)

I just read an article saying the "hardcore" gaming community is going with PS4.

I'm not sure what defines hardcore. What I'm trying to avoid is buying an Xbox One and then still have to buy Xbox 360 games so my son can play with his friends that don't have one yet.

I just the other day bought an Xbox. Not sure if it's a 1 2 or 4 but it allows me to hack my ex wifes netflix account with the help of my kids. I'm sure I'm paying for it anyway.

Xbox One - NO backward compatibility at all. Online version of Battlefield 4 will be different for 360 and One.

As far as hardcore gamers, tough definition. If you want a large community of people online to play games with then Xbox is your flavor.

If you want to be play games and have some online fun with mature gamers, than PS3 / PS4 is where it is at.

I have never been a big online gamer cause games like Battlefield and COD aren't my favorite and quite frankly I suck at them. I have however been having fun with GTA V online and I have yet to be called a "noob" or "go fuck your mother" or "noob bitch".

Plus Sony just makes a better product IMO. My original Playstation 1 still works to this day.

And Gamestops will still be in business for some time because like Microsoft just proved, you threaten to take away the used game market and you catch hell for it.

If they want "Cloud" gaming and no disc type games, then every game will have to be less than 20.00 and that will include the big titles. No way in hell will I pay 59.99 for a game, find out I HATE it, and then be stuck with it. At least with Gamestop, I have a chance to at least get 50% of money back.

However all of the boys friends will have some flavor of Xbox. I would wait until after Xmas to see how many of his friends actually get one.
