A lifetime of excessive lasagna stopped Nino, peace be upon him.

The left did stop Bork. Their high tech lynching of Thomas almost stopped him.

Lasagna? He was a few weeks from 80-years-old. If that's due to lifetime lasagna, then it could officially be designated a health food.

Should there be a mandatory retirement age for federal judges? If so, what age? Scalia seemed to be in pretty good shape, his sudden death notwithstanding (heh), but when you say "80 years old", it sounds kinda old. Should these ancient crones be the ultimate legal authorities of the land? Discuss...

Damn, I was thinking Alito was in his 50's, that motherfucker is 65. I didn't think he was that old. Not that 65 is particularly old, I just didn't think he was that old. On the flip side, Ginsburg is only 82, I thought she was 102...

I see that a John McLean was one of the longest serving Supreme court justices. I think I might be related to him, only b/c the change in his appearance from a young man to an older man appears to mirror my own to a startling degree:

Good lord (heh), we've got 5 catholics and 3 jews on the supreme court now, and I'm sure Scalia was catholic too. Goddamn, presidents, would it kill you to nominate a methodist??

From wikipedia's jews on the supreme court:

"Brandeis was succeeded by Protestant William O. Douglas, but Cardozo was succeeded by another Jewish Justice, Felix Frankfurter. Negative reaction to the appointment of the early Jewish justices did not exclusively come from outside the Court. Justice James Clark McReynolds, a blatant anti-semite, refused to speak to Brandeis for three years following the latter's appointment and when Brandeis retired in 1939, did not sign the customary dedicatory letter sent to Court members on their retirement. During Benjamin Cardozo's swearing in ceremony McReynolds pointedly read a newspaper muttering "another one" and did not attend that of Felix Frankfurter, exclaiming "My God, another Jew on the Court!"

Most methodists I know are really agnostic. They just figure they can hedge their bet by showing up for church every so often, which is the general trajectory of religion in general (non-crazy ass muslims and the occasional chatroom eastern orthodox catholic rable-rouser (or whatever prof is) notwithstanding)...

Where's the thread to discuss how JJ Abrams ruined both Star Trek AND Star Wars? That SOB needs to be gang raped by Wookies.

I'm still trying to figure out how a country with 300 million people can only come up with Hillary and The Donald as our next president. A greedy lying criminal or P.T. Barnum will soon be the leader of the free world and control nuclear weapons.

We'll get the leader we deserve. We are so screwed.
