Today is the deadline for UNC to respond to the notice of allegations.

UNC should do what Bama Coach Gene Stallings did when the NCAA investigators showed up at his office. Ol' Gene threw them out.
As an aside, I THINK Stallings was really the head coach at Bama.

Bamba commits to Texas and there is no joy in mudville.

No banner hanging next season... Bamba would have made UK almost unbeatable.

Yeah, I guess having six 5-star recruits all ranked in the top 25 just isn't enough...

its not the number is the depth
We don't have a front court that can compete with the best teams now.

funny how that works out
we were convinced Knox was going to Duke and Bamba was going to UK
and with Karl Towns, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, his logic for going to Texas was the development of their big men

Let's face it, nobody "develops" in any meaningful degree by playing one year of college ball. All those people you named would've been drafted within a couple of spots of where they actually did get drafted if they could've gone pro out of high school. But it is a nice sound byte...

I don't really claim the Helms title. I don't disown it, but I don't claim it, certainly not when counting number of NC's. When I went to Chapel Hill to select my championship swag gear, I passed over anything that referenced 7 NC's (although I didn't see too much of that anyway). I kinda feel about the Helms title the same way I feel about UK's titles under Rupp, they're all such ancient history and the game isn't even remotely the same as what they were playing back when those titles were won. Nice little feather in the cap, but nothing to get too excited about....

yea if my program didn't shit for 50 years, I'd discount what others did as ancient history too.

FWIW.... Kentucky has 2 Helms titles.. that equals 10 national championships if you're counting.

Speaking of Helms and Helms-lite titles...
The 1926 Alabama football team was selected national champion by Billingsley and the Helms Athletic Foundation...
The 1934 Alabama football team was selected national champion by Dunkel, Williamson, and Football Thesaurus.
The 1941 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Frank Thomas, completed the regular season 8–2–0. Alabama's squad finished 3rd in the Southeastern Conference. After losing to Mississippi State 14-0 and Vanderbilt,[25] 7–0, Alabama finished the regular season ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll...The squad was selected national champions by the Houlgate Poll, published in the nationally syndicated Football Thesaurus.
In Alabama's 1982 media guide, the last for Coach Bryant, 1934 is listed as the only national championship before Coach Bryant in a footnote about the school's SEC history. In the 1980s, Alabama's Sports Information Director Wayne Atcheson started recognizing five pre-Bryant national championship teams (1925, 1926, 1930, 1934, 1941) by adding them to the University's Football Media Guide. According to Atcheson, he made the effort in the context of disputed titles being claimed by other schools, and "to make Alabama football look the best it could look" to compete with the other claimants. Atcheson maintains that the titles are the school's rightful claims.

"yea if my program didn't shit for 50 years, I'd discount what others did as ancient history too."
Who didn't do shit for 50 years? UNC won a title in the 50's and went to 3 straight FF's in the 60's. Those are nice accomplishments of course, but not nearly as impressive as the 5 titles we've won since the early 80's, when college basketball (and the NCAA tourny) became the actual game that it is today...

UNC has more titles in our lifetime than UK does...
