I actually didn't pay much attention to recruiting this year but I think they picked up a couple of decent players late. Of course a handwritten in ebonics letter cant compete with fed-ex'd bundles of cash, no-effort degrees, and tutors that will do anything, and I mean anything, to keep you happy.

the kid Hughes sent that note to, Dexter Wright, plays for Hedge's and my alma mater. he's a 6-3, 200-lb safety and makes the honor roll regularly. not sure who he likes but State was recruiting him before any other major program around here.

Stu was a stalwart on the O-line for the freshman football team, but the brutal summer workouts engendered in him a propensity towards sloth and procrastination that he steadfastly holds to to this day. He quickly found out being the stat guy (which led to his winning the coveted Coach's Award, i.e., Brown Nose Award) for the baseball team in the relative balm of spring suited his temperament (to say nothing of his intestinal fortitude) much better than doing 100 up/downs in 102 degree summer heat...

at least I never ran off the field and to the wrong sideline as players and coaches from both teams, as well as the refs, howled in laughter. I didn't have to run of't the field because I played every offensive down while you two-platooning with clownish Jeff Cunningham.
