(scratching head)

Every single team in college football wants the exact same curse after 7 games.
Nobody wants the type of fans that jumps on the UM bandwagon. The 7-0 start got the train a rollin', now they're PISSED that Golden has dropped a couple.

Good article on SBNation today about the Coastal - Bill Connelly predicts an 87% chance of VT in the ACCCG (http://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal ... duke-miami).

I hope Va Tech makes it - physical tough defense that will be good prep for Bama.

Assuming we can win out of course......

rumor has it that the Noles are going to be using all the AYCE for training tables in the greater Tifton area between the ACCCCG and the BCS game...per Jimbo, "if we can get these guys toughned up to the DMVN competition we feel that our chances for the MNC are very good"...

Fuck Frank Beamer. Fuck him to hell and back for that bullshit in December 2000. He shook Dick Baddour's hand, told him he was coming, agreed to general terms, said he was going back to say goodbye to his team and then fucks everyone in Chapel Hill. Fuck that lying piece of shit.

Frank Beamer has finally kicked Cody Journell off the team, giving this weird VT season another unusual twist: the in-season dismissal of an outlaw kicker. For the second straight home game, the senior player featured on VT's tickets will not play in the game due to disciplinary action-- Journell's on the tickets this week, three weeks after J.R. Collins got himself suspended for the Duke game. VT had enough to worry about against Maryland. VT's offense is only ever one play away from total disaster, and the Hokies will likely be without both senior corners on Senior Day, as Kyle Fuller and Antone Exum are hurt. Now they'll have to face the Terps without anyone on the roster who has successfully kicked a field goal in college.

I can't hold that sort of thing against a guy. It's different if things are put into motion because of the handshake agreement (spend tons of money promoting the new hire, have a press conference, fire existing staff, etc.) but when the turnaround is a few hours then there really isn't a huge difference between "I'll take the job" and "No thanks but I'm flattered" other than a few disappointed insiders.

Chokies were afraid to face the Noles in the ACCCG. Then Miami said, "here Duke, you can have it".

Duke might very well be playing FSU in the ACCCG.

Wow. Fucking DUKE.

Virginia Tech's just not good enough to deserve to play Florida State, and I'm almost grateful that game now probably won't happen. I didn't see this game live, as I was in Evanston for the four hour exercise in existential despair that was Michigan-Northwestern, but I've made it through it now. VT just has such small margin for error, and today the critical errors usually came in the form of ill-timed sacks and wasted field position. Maryland played really well after the first quarter, C.J. Brown was terrific running the ball, and VT let a game they were controlling early on get away from them. The officials were terrible, but they were terrible both ways-- VT got what looked like a clear defensive touchdown wiped out by a dubious replay decision, and Maryland lost a possession on an interception when the back judge clumsily blocked out the Maryland receiver. VT did well to tie it up after going down 21-7, but once it was tied, the Hokies had two possessions at midfield to get a go-ahead score in regulation, and went three-and-out on both of them. In overtime, VT had a first-and-goal on the seven, and had to settle for three. When this team throws away chances, they can lose to anybody, and Maryland was good enough today that they didn't need that much help.

UNC will beat Duke to create a five-way tie for first in the Coastal at 5-3...

The Big Ten fan was right. Hell, as a Big Ten fan, I've seen Wisconsin-Northwestern basketball games more aesthetically pleasing than VT-UVa was this year. For the second consecutive year, VT-UVa was awful. For most of the second half, this was well-nigh unwatchable. I was watching this at a family gathering that included VT and UVa fans. This game was so bad my UVa cousin fell asleep midway through the second half, and my two uncles(one UVa, one VT) and I discussed switching over to Alabama-Auburn well before the game was over, just so we could watch some quality football.

Oh well...VT wins its tenth in a row over UVa, and finishes 8-4. Before the season, considering all the inexperience and the injuries on offense, I thought they'd do well to win eight, so on the whole, I'm happy with VT's season. For this VT team to win, though, they pretty much have to win ugly.

I was actually referring to the possible 5-way tie for the Coastal division between 5 mediocre teams. Duke managed to save us all from that tiebreaker

Duke is playing like a complete team in every sense. Their head coach is doing a perfect job, 100% perfection. Were it not for the sheer athletic dominance that I expect on Saturday from FSU, I would expect Duke to win the game. Alas, they will most likely be out-athleted. Duke will not be out-coached. Nor will Duke make any mistakes.

Duke only wins if FSU fucks up. They have to hope for stupidity. So it is on Fisher to coach his team to not make mistakes.
