When approaching the gallows, the condemned often taunt their executioners. They want to cling to a last shred of personal dignity because it beats sobbing, begging for mercy, and soiling themselves.

Some pull off the bravado better than Tick. But I probably won't do any better when I'm staring at the same noose in late November.

Methinks AA makes quite a fuss on the term 'Bammer' which is not spoken to be funny, it's just a simple shorthand usage along the same tone as saying 'Bama'. If someone uses 'gayturd' I couldn't care less; it just makes them look/sound like a kid in the 3rd grade

Exactly my thoughts on the former, as well. Make no mistake, 'Bammer' is just as pejorative and just as juvenile - which is fine the first few hundred times. After a while, it becomes tedious, unfunny and sad to see people go out of their way* to head back to grade school on these boards.

(*In written communication, one is tasked with two extra keystrokes to adulterate 'Bama')

No doubt AA puts his section on notice when they strike up "rammer-jammer."

"Fellow revelers - please! Kindly refrain from this loutish behavior or I will don my chapeaux and exit the premises!"

No need to put anyone on notice in my section. The words to that cheer do not now, nor have they ever, included the word 'bammer'. Good God, man. We're not Tennessee Hilljacks.

Gayturds
The Barn
The Tutor-C Vals
The Buttsniffers in Silver Britches
The Starkvegas Buttsniffers
The Bunghole Tiggers
Ole Piss Black Bears
The Candy Commodes
The Mildcats
The Gaycocks
Bammer Payroll Tide (or Crime-scene Tide)

I'm not sure I've heard one for Arkansas. Anyone?

ok, 'Bammer' is an immature affront, while 'Bama' is not. The difference is so obvious. Now is it "Bama" or "bama"? Is it kosher to lead with an apostrophe as in 'bama? I lost my official AA Style Book on college nicknames.

Correct.

To the rest of your gibberish, spell 'Bama' however you wish. Use 'Bammer' if that is what you deem clever or cute. It is certainly within your rights - i.e., every man has the right to look childish and uneducated - and I will not stand in your way. I, however, reserve the right to lambast, critique and otherwise comment on its usage at my leisure.

Good day to you, sir or madam.

Good God. It looks like Hacksaw has found another Batman to play Robin to.

Sad, really.

Alabammer: How southerners say the word 'Alabama'. Also any person from the state of Alabama, or anyone who speaks with a heavy sourthern accent reminiscent of Alabaman speech.

Speaking as a casual observer... there's nothing incendiary here that I can see .

I have no doubt that you do not find 'bammer' objectionable. None. Whether that is a testament to your educational background, your upbringing, or your football allegiance, I can only speculate. If I had to guess, I would imagine that it is a combination of all three.

Where are my manners? Allow me to communicate in a fashion you can more easily understand:

Yore mama and dem utter vol fans done tawt you ain't nuttin wrong with that word a cow's age ago or ya dun lernt it in skool. Reckon all of it.

Well, we can educate ignorance. Tolerance in this kinder, gentler, PC world?

... Uh, no...

I saw what you did there. That was awesome.

I can attest to that not calming college football embers. I've been in Florida since 1985 save one more training stint at NAAS Millington near Memphis. 48 years old...26 in Florida give or take a few months.
