I see on the list Columnist Johnette Howard. Is that the child of Johnette's Daddy, of blessed memory?
Haven't heard from him since the election. He must be in rehab or residential therapy.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Longtime ESPN anchor Linda Cohn believes the network’s embrace of political issues is at least partially to blame for falling subscription rates.
“That is definitely a percentage of it,” Cohn said, when asked Thursday on New York radio show “Bernie and Sid” if viewers were tuning out because of politics, according to the New York Post. “I don’t know how big a percentage, but if anyone wants to ignore that fact, they’re blind.”

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I find it really hard to believe that there are a meaningful number of people out there who have cancelled their entire cable package to protest the politics of one channel. I could see ratings falling because of it but losing subscribers, no way.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I don't think its direct
Live television in general is a big reason people pay for cable. Its still the holy grail for cable cutters.
And ESPN is the primary cable channel for live television.
So if you quit watching ESPN, you stop justifying a need for cable and you cancel cable.
I don't think anyone is canceling cable out of some outrage for ESPN like they would with a newspaper back in the day. It just a "why am I paying $150 a month for this when there is nothing on I watch?" kind of thing
meaning that the lure of ESPN to keep cable subscribers is gone.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
doubt if its the cable subscriber number
its more likely the amount of money advertisers are paying to get commercials on espn plummets as the ratings plummet

If Cohn believes that, then she isn't really a sports fan.“That is definitely a percentage of it,” Cohn said, when asked Thursday on New York radio show “Bernie and Sid” if viewers were tuning out because of politics, according to the New York Post. “I don’t know how big a percentage, but if anyone wants to ignore that fact, they’re blind.”

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I am no Lavar Ball fan. I need that said up front. I think he unnecessarily puts pressure on his kids in a field where the pressure shows up without any outside help.crotch wrote:Looks as if Ball's dad cost him millions already.....

With that said, if anyone was to pull off what Lava wants to do, the first round of negotiations would go like this. No company willing gives up that much when a disruptor want's to come in and counter the standard model. This would be the first move of a long game no matter who was negotiating. I do think it wouldn't play out so publicly with other principals. Lavar just has a big mouth, so the story gets more attention from news platforms and companies can feel more comfortable leaking the information and not expect any leverage loss.
I will clown the man, but I won't clown the idea.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I heard yesterday on PTI, Lavar went to a prominent AAU coach and told him
"here is what is going to happen, my kid is going to play for your team and I'm going to coach him"
and the guy was like "you get the fuck out of here"

Please tell him Professor Tiger sends his regards, and please come back to PNN or TGP. We miss him. And tell him to keep his chin up; Trump won't be around for very long.Bklyn wrote:John is good. Re: Ostensibly Hoops
My condolences to Trubinsky. Having been drafted by the Bears, he is doomed to spend his short career laboring in obscurity and futility.
