They've got to fill the time with something. How many times can you watch the same highlights? How much so-called "face value" reporting can you do on a Wednesday night in an off month for sports? I doubt many people (save aTm) are really that interested in European league soccer and the like. I don't really think that ESPN's coverage or filler had really become overly politicized (although of course, people like Prof, who if there's any mention of Kaitlyn Jenner, will claim ESPN has become MSNBC), but I have noticed that Mike and Mike never mention anything outside sports. Not sure that you can run that kind of thing 24/7 though...

Well with the product they're peddling, it can't keep increasing forever. There are a limited number of sports fans out there with a limited amount of time. Maybe some of them developed other interests...

whats amazing to me is ESPN accounts for like $8 of your cable bill. Every other channel is less than $1.50 beside the HBO type stuff.

I doubt many people (save aTm) are really that interested in European league soccer and the like.
Many people are, but the networks themselves are becoming stratified for those kind of sports and only cover the ones they carry. I think NASCAR for example has been relatively smart (or lucky) by dividing up their broadcast schedule between 3 or 4 different sources. ESPN, Fox, Turner, NBC all have had NASCAR races over the past few years and so they all have an incentive to pay the sport lip service, put on weekly talk shows about the sport, etc. If ESPN makes a big deal about european soccer, and spends a bunch of money catering to that fan, they would essentially be putting money in the pockets of NBC and Fox who are the ones who broadcast those games. ESPN mainly focuses a little on MLS and a lot on US men's national team soccer because they carry those games.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

based on the people they let go, ESPN won't be focusing on hockey in the near future

I only watch ESPN on football Sundays or if there is a game I'm interested in. They lost their mojo years ago with all the bs talk shows.

Travis is dead on. I don't watch sports TV to be propagandized. If I want liberal politics, I'll turn on MSNBC or CNN.

But Cook Out is pretty good. It has the only vinegar-based BBQ I can stand.
Fuck you and your heresy.

Vinegar is for fish and chips, and maybe for salad dressing, but not for good meat.

I think the reason I can stand Cook Out BBQ is they cover the offensive vinegar taste with cole slaw and Texas Pete.

Why anybody would hold to one bbq sauce is bizarre. Variety really is the spice of life. Thin red, thick red, vinegar, vinegar with a touch of red, bama white, mustard based..dry rub without. Sweet, hot, mild. All good.

That said, the Almighty made ketchup for one thing only: french fries.
"OMG, this is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I AM FUCKED!"
