If law enforcement majors were shooting African-American studies majors, or they were having Kollegiate Klan rallies in the Quad, or they were putting whites only signs on the water fountains in the dorms, and the president wasn't doing anything about it, then the anger is certainly justified, and the president needs to go.
But if the "racially charged incidents" were merely aggrieving the campus PC thought and speech police - e.g. the president dared to say "all lives matter," or refused demands to rename the stadium after Ta Nehisi Coates, or refused to give black students free tuition as reparations - then that's a completely different story.
*The president of the Missouri Students Association, Payton Head, who is black, touched off the intense discussion of race in September when he posted on Facebook that a group of men had yelled racial slurs at him, and said it was not the first time he had suffered that kind of abuse at the university. His post was shared thousands of times, and drew widespread coverage.
* In early October, the Legion of Black Collegians, a student group, was rehearsing a homecoming event when a white man walked onto its stage and used racial epithets.
* A coalition of Jewish groups told Mr. Loftin that they were “dismayed” by his lack of action after a swastika was drawn [in human feces] on a dormitory wall.
That isn't a ton of stuff, but it's 2015.
Back when I was an undergrad in the early 80s at Miami (OH), we had much, much worse stuff happen.
