While we are doling out billions of taxpayer dollars on totally partisan organizations, I think the Tea Party, Focus on the Family, the Knights of Columbus, the Heritage Foundation and Excellence in Broadcasting, should ALL receive federal funding equal to the Planned Parenthood welfare. They're all equally deserving.

A majority of Americans support legal abortion. 7 in 10 Americans support PP. Republicans have repeatedly voted to use aborted fetuses in medical research.
Abortion no longer makes the 'major issues' list anymore wrt national politics. It only rises above single digits with Christian conservatives.
Abortions have been declining rapidly, having fallen 12 percent since 2012. More access to contraception and better reproductive education are credited for the decline. Angry old white guys don't get any credit, shockingly.

The majority of Americans support gun rights too. So why aren't we giving billions of taxpayer dollars to the NRA?

You are against abortion (so don't have one..duh). You want to defund PP even though abortion only accounts for 3% of their women's health services. The Hyde Act precludes PP from performing abortions except in the case of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother. One must assume you are against abortion period, eos.
Federal and state money goes to PP in the form of Medicaid and Title X reimbursement for medical services rendered to millions of low-income citizens. If the feds pull funding, the burden increases on states to provide these critical services to it's constituents. We're talking 500 mil a year btw...what we spent before lunch on an average day during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
If the NRA or Tea Party or EIB get medically qualified and take on Medicaid patients..sure, they could be in line to receive taxpayer dollars. Would that make you happy?

Politifact says that it is more like 12% of their services. True, federal government funding is not allowed to be used for abortions unless it is in the case of rape, incest, or endangering the life of the mother; however, PP does perform these atrocities from other funding sources so why should the federal government help an organization that commits these atrocities when there are other women health organizations who don't?

You didn't mention that there thousands of abortion providers out there that don't perform and infanticidal ghoulery. If taxpayer money must go to abortionists, send the money to them.
PP says the videos are edited. First off, that's like the wife coming home early and finding her husband in bed with with another woman, and he says it's not what it looks like. "Who are you going to believe? Me, or your lying eyes?"
The videos show what they show - PP officials discussing their performing of abortions in such a way that it saves the baby's brain so that it fetches a better price and the dead baby parts market. What possible "out of context" would make that civilized?
Maybe we should apologize to Josef Mengele. All those photographs and eyewitnesses of him doing ghastly experiments really didn't happen. They were edited and/or provided by Jewish survivors who were unfairly out to get him for performing wonderful and necessary health services to people who couldn't afford it.

Again, abortion is not for you and yours and that is swell. Harangue it all you like..it still doesn't change the fact that abortion on demand is legal in all 50 states. Overturn Roe or get Congress to overrule the Court's decision and the funding issue will take care of itself.

AC, we play Saturday at 130 at McMinnville for the first round of the playoffs. Are you going to be there? If so I would like to say Hi.

Abolitionism was supported by a small minority in 1861 but won the day in 1863.
And I'll give the gay rights lobby credit - gay marriage was a ridiculous idea ten years ago. Now it's the law of the land.
In both cases the minority view became the majority view very quickly through persistence and haranguing.

I'm not sure abolitionism became the majority view on its merits. I think it was embraced as a tactical advantage by the military leadership of the north. I doubt the majority of northern citizens cared one way or another terribly much (and the treatment of blacks nationwide over the next hundred years bears that out). Needless to say, there weren't many in the south who embraced it. So yes, it won the day, but it wasn't because a majority embraced it. The idea of true equal rights for blacks didn't become the majority view until the 1960's. Shameful that it took so long, yes, but still, that's the fact. Granted, I doubt there were many in even the early part of the 20th century (or even late 19th century) that would've full-on supported a return to outright slavery, but it took a century after the Civil War for a real majority to support the idea that blacks deserved equal rights...

Just because something is legal doesn't give it the right to be gov't funded.

Correct. If Sandra Fluck gets free birth control from Washington because of an invisible constitutional right to "privacy" then gun owners deserve free ammunition from Washington because of the visible 2nd amendment.
To do otherwise would force low-income shooters into dangerous back-alley reloading. That would be almost as catastrophic as global warming.

Do like Switzerland. Make National Guard into the American Militia with membership mandatory for all males aged 17-50.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_of_Switzerland
The Swiss Army (German: Schweizer Armee, French: Armée suisse, Italian: Esercito svizzero, Romanisch: Armada svizra) operates on land, in the air, and in international waters. Under the country's militia system, professional soldiers constitute about 5 percent[citation needed] of the military and the rest are conscripts or volunteers aged 19 to 34 (in some cases up to 50). Because of Switzerland's long history of neutrality, the army does not take part in armed conflicts in other countries, but it does participate in international peacekeeping missions. Switzerland is part of the NATO partnership for peace programme.
The structure of the Swiss militia system stipulates that the soldiers keep their own personal equipment, including all personally assigned weapons, at home (until 2007 this also included ammunition[4]). Compulsory military service concerns all male Swiss citizens, with women serving voluntarily. Males usually receive initial orders at the age of 18 for military conscription eligibility screening. About two-thirds of young Swiss men are found suitable for service, while alternative service exists for those found unsuitable.
Buy your own guns and ammo, and when we fight the next oil war, we grab your fat ass off the gun range or golf course and send you to Yemen, where you will get all of the target practice you need.
Cut the regular army by 70% and have a highly armed ready reserve.

How dare you impose ANY restrictions on my constitutional right to free ammo paid for by Washington? It is my right to have access to free ammo, any caliber, any amount, anytime, anywhere, no questions asked, without any requirements or obligations to anybody else, for any reason, whatsoever. Period. That's the the Fluck Doctrine.

Guns Don't Kill People, Vol. MMICMLI, part 2:
http://news.yahoo.com/shooting-umpqua-c ... 11198.html
Live: 13 dead in shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon
http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/01/us/oregon ... -shooting/
According to the source close to the investigation, authorities are looking at social media posts between a person they believe may have been the shooter, and others.
The conversation happened Wednesday night on 4chan.
In it, the writer talks about planning to carry out a shooting. Others egg him on, giving him suggestions on how to do it, and the type of weapons to use.
The responses are mixed -- with some users characterizing the would-be gunman as a pathetic loser. Others called him a twisted hero.
