The Big 12 only inviting West Virginia for this round was dumb. Why not go for the coup de gras and invite UveL, UC, and WVU in one motion, kill Big East football once and for good, get back to 12 teams and a conference championship game, and increase the chance that you won't have to wait until 2014 for the teams to join.
They wont get extra TV money for adding those teams (except a limited amount from ESPN/ABC for a championship game)

But taking UC and UL at the same time of WVU may have forced the conference to just quit on football altogether. The basketball schools may have looked at the options for expansion and said thanks but no thanks (especially without UC and UL getting behind said teams.) This could have let them bypass the 27 month waiting period. Championship game on top of that is a bonus. As is strengthening the league in basketball and making a slightly more sensical geographical footprint.

I agree that it made the most sense, but everybody in the Big 12 is clutching dollars, there's never been any actual leadership besides just reacting one step at a time.

At least Memphis gets a mention in this article. Though it looks like it would have to rassle with Temple for the spot.

http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2011 ... pnews|text|

Even if Memphis is invited, UC would most likely be split up with them. Either Memphis would be in the West and UC in the East or for some reason they'd stick with the original plan and keep UC in the West and Memphis would have to be in the East. Kind of shitty considering that UC, UL, Houston, and Memphis grouping does have a decent amount of history together.

Goddamnit, Mook, give it up. UC is stuck with the Big East. Accept it and move on. Jesus!

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day's useless energy spent.
Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.
Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is grey and yellow white.
But we decide which is right.
And which is an illusion?

Got my tickets tonight for Notre Dame and Boston College. Aren't you guys happy for me. $ 182 frickin bucks, damn they are expensive.

Well Ohio State has done it again. They are in the process of weaseling out of the scheduled game with UC. First that game was supposed to be played in Cincinnati, then they insist that it move to Columbus for the bigger gate. Now that UC has a decent team and things are not all that peachey for them, they have shit running down their legs at the thought of losing to an Ohio team. So now they are insisting on moving the game to 2018, when they're sure this crisis will have blown over, and they wonder why they are despised in Cincinati. Mook, Rat, and I went about fifteen rounds with Talent over this game about 5 years ago. Turns out we were right.

UC actually asked for it to be pushed back. Of course that was when TCU was committed to the Big East and UC had to adjust their schedule to fit them in. Now OSU claims they already filled the spot.

Moeller is going to kill my high school. We used to make fun of them because they went there for sports and we went to Sycamore because we liked girls. Stofko is a good buddy of mine.
