wow...talk about a blatant money grab

"The author of the explosive new book about Donald Trump's presidency acknowledged in an author's note that he wasn't certain all of its content was true.

Michael Wolff, the author of "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House," included a note at the start that casts significant doubt on the reliability of the specifics contained in the rest of its pages.

Several of his sources, he says, were definitely lying to him, while some offered accounts that flatly contradicted those of others.

But some were nonetheless included in the vivid account of the West Wing's workings, in a process Wolff describes as "allowing the reader to judge" whether the sources' claims are true. "

--------

as I said, I'd read contradicting stories well before these excerpts came out about Trump plan to run for president so I felt some of it was lie - but I didn't think the author would just come out and say it in the forward of the book.

I found this ...well...enjoyable

--------------

An undercover investigation ordered by liberals in Congress who wanted to pull back the curtain on how easy it is to buy a weapon illegally on the web has ended up with a stunning conclusion: Gun sellers won’t go along with the deals.

In fact, the report from the Government Accountability Office reveals that the websites run by the sellers even took action against the wannabe buyers multiple times.

The new report said, “Tests performed on the Surface Web demonstrated that private sellers GAO contacted on gun forums and other classified ads were unwilling to sell a firearm to an individual who appeared to be prohibited from possessing a firearm.”

The report continued, “Of the 72 attempts agents made to purchase firearms on the Surface Web, 56 sellers refused to complete a transaction. 29 sellers stated they would not ship a firearm and 27 refused after the disclosure of the undercover identities’ stated prohibited status. Furthermore, in 5 of these 72 attempts, the accounts GAO set up were frozen by the websites, which prevented the agents from using the forums and attempting to make a purchase.”

Washington watchdog Judicial Watch noted the significant of the results of the investigation, which was instigated by “two fierce anti-gun members of Congress.”

The report said, “Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren demanded the probe in the aftermath of mass shootings and the investigative arm of Congress, the Government Accountability Office (GAO), conducted a lengthy covert operation to try to purchase firearms illegally from Internet dealers.”

Said the analysis, “All 72 of congressional investigators’ attempts to purchase a firearm illegally via the surface web were unsuccessful, slamming Cummings’ and Warren’s claims that guns are easily obtained by criminal elements on the Internet.”

It explained many of the sellers or dealers were alarmed – enough to shut down the conversations – because of revelations of a shipping address across state lines, “or a prohibition by law from owning firearms.”

So Wolff recounted conversations that he fully admits to being suspicious of wrt some of people's claims. Makes sense to me. It's not like he could hook everyone up to a polygraph.

Bannon certainly isn't backing away from the things he is quoted as saying, which makes the book worthwhile on that basis alone.

Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Pee Pee Dossier, that Hillary Campaign paid for, just got a referral for indictment for lying to the FBI.

https://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/01/05/u ... oogle.com/

It took a threat to hold top officials in contempt, but the DOJ and FBI are about to comply - finally - with a subpoena to turn over the documents concerning the Pee Pee dossier, and other Russia-collusion investigation documents. Maybe we’ll find out if the Pee Pee document was used to get FISA warrants so that a sitting Democrat president could spy on a Republican candidate/nominee’s campaign:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.co ... index.html

The DOJ Inspector General is investigating how Obama’s FBI handles the investigation into Hillary’s emails. Maybe they can find out why Comey wrote a letter exonerating Hillary long before the investigation was complete.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washin ... t-and-fbi/

FBI investigating Clinton Foundation:

Looks like a lot of Deep State Democrats are in much more legal jeopardy than Trump ever will be. And 2018 is going to be YUGE! Believe me.

Trump's tweets this morning about how smart and stable he is were very presidential. He's got Prof convinced but I can't imagine he's got many more. Oh, I know that there are a lot of people out there who still support him for the coal mining jobs and racism but even those people know he's not smart or stable.

Stock market going through the roof.
Black unemployment lowest since 1972. Trump has already done more to improve the lives of black people than Obama and Clinton.
Democracy breaking out in Iran.
People in high tax states now being required to pay their own state taxes. Shocking.
Guns still legal.
No national bathroom policy.
ISIS stripped of its Caliphate.
Oil drilling breaking out all over the US.
Loony environmental laws gone. Tractor ruts after a rain are no longer “navigable waterways.”
Coal industry survived the Democrat assassnation attempt and is coming back.
The Obamacare individual mandate gone, and with it, Obamacare. Say Goodnight.
After Democrat legal obstruction, travel from Muslim terrorist-ridden countries gone.
Islamic terrorism being called Islamic terrorism.
Coming soon - the Wall. Legal obstructions being overcome. Contracting process well underway.
Federal immigration laws being enforced.
Coming soon - sanctuary cities being defunded. Legal obstructions being overcome.
The Mueller investigation in its death spiral.
Investigation of Hillary’s Uranian One real just getting started.
Investigation of Clinton Foundation pay-to-play just getting started.
The REAL case of a presidential candidate colluding with Russia (by Hillary) proven, investigation continues.
The REAL case of a rigged US election (by Hillary and the DNC) proven.
Comey’s rigged investigation into Hillary’s emails, especially the evidence-nullficating conclusion, being investigated.
Possibility that the fake Pee Pee dossier was used by Obama’s FBI/DOJ to spy on the Trump campaign being in nvestigated.
Neil Gorsuch sitting on the Supreme Court.
Neil Gorsuch sitting on the Supreme Court.
Neil Gorsuch sitting on the Supreme Court.
A large number of Trump nominees being approved to the federal judiciary.
Kim Jong being credibly threatened back instead of appeased by a US president.
After a year of absorbing the most massive media bombardment in US history, Trump’s base is holding strong.

In short, Trump has spent the first year of his presidency eating the Democrats’ lunch and dating their girlfriends. Not bad for a demented unfit incompetent mentally unstable crazy man.

"impeachment porn"

----------

Perhaps the most noteworthy media development of the Trump era is the rise of “impeachment porn”: regular breathless stories that purport to share the latest dirt from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation — but are based on nothing more than innuendo and speculation.

The latest instalment: a “bombshell” New York Times story on President Trump’s efforts to keep a tight grip on the Russia investigation. Careless readers won’t even notice that the worst alleged Trump behavior falls far short of the clear obstruction of justice that led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation over Watergate.

The article is a mix of leaks from various sources — none of which seem to come directly from Mueller’s office. Even the “news” that the probe is focusing on possible obstruction is based on analysis from outsiders, not informed insiders.

The article claims that Trump — enraged by what he saw as a politically motivated investigation swiftly moving out of control — pressed hard to hold the reins close.

He told his White House counsel, Donald McGahn, to press Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to recuse himself in the election-meddling probe. McGahn tried — but Sessions recused himself anyway. At no time did Trump cross the line by ordering Sessions to stay on board — nor is there any suggestion he’s ever told anyone to lie under oath.

That’s a far cry from Nixon demanding that the CIA block the FBI’s Watergate probe by citing phony national-security issues.

The Times also says Trump complained that he expected his attorney general to protect him, as Robert Kennedy had done for his brother, John Kennedy, and Eric Holder did for Barack Obama. That’s a badly mistaken notion of the proper role of an attorney general — but Trump wasn’t wrong about those earlier AGs.

Trump’s firing of James Comey was entirely legal, even if done out of spite. Even the Times admits there’s no evidence of “corrupt intent” that could make it a crime.

The story merely adds more smoke without providing any substantive fire. And smoke only obscures reality.

In short, “impeachment porn” exploits its audience every bit as much as the regular kind.

So now the standard is "he's not as bad as Nixon"? Awesome...

At least Nixon was brilliant and did many positive things (although they didn’t outweigh all of his fucked up shit). Trump is just in over his head.

I read an article today about a woman who was addicted to porn and how popular it made her with her boyfriends.

The gist of the article was how she overcame her porn addiction and goes on and on about her triumph, how it changed her life, etc, then the last sentence of the article says something like "now she just watches porn occasionally"

If you were reading an article about an alcoholic who was an out of control drunk, and how he overcame his alcoholism , then the last sentence says "now he's just a social drinker" - it would be a bit of a letdown wouldn't it?

don't get me wrong, every woman needs to watch porn...unless she is *in* the porn, but seems like she didn't really overcome anything, she just doesn't masturbate 8 times a day

Every man in America now wants to meet this woman.

“Impeachment porn” is the perfect description of the current media-liberal phenomenon.

Sex as portrayed in porn is as close to real sex as impeachment of Trump is to a real impeachment. It’s the difference between imagining something you desperately wish would happen to you and what really happens to you.

And like porn, impeachment porn is highly addictive. It creates a powerful itch in the limbic system that requires more and more scratching in order to be satisfied. That’s why media reporting on Trump keeps getting more and more unhinged. The same reporters who are shrieking about “constitutional crisis” and how Trump is “mentally unfit” and “emotionally unstable” can only cite as their proof that this supposedly deranged Trump is kicking their intellectually superior asses all over the place.

This is like watching the asylum inmates saying their keepers are crazy. It is remarkable and funny to watch. I need to buy more popcorn.

setting aside the rationale as to why a media station would post that to begin with, why would they capitalize "OUR"?
