That's what I think. Giles strikes me as a prima donna and I have a hunch that he's not playing hard because he wants to get paid in June. Tatum is their best player, by far. Also, Allen seems like a cancer — the seemingly prototypical dookie whose flaws ultimately undermine the team good. Mainly, Duke has no point guard of worth and that's a bad situation for a team struggling with chemistry in late January.

Charles Shackleford found dead in his hometown, Kinston, today. He was 50. Hedge and I once heckled him mercilessly during our senior year when Kinston was playing Hunt. At one point, he looked at us, as if to say, "you know damn well I could whip both y'all white boys ass in a second if I wanted to." Verily, the only thing from keeping him from slapping my face was decorum. Shack, I salute ye for your grace. RIP.

I remember that, sitting on the front row of the bleachers. I was thinking he was a saphmore when that happened, so either you are wrong that we were seniors or I am mistaken thinking he was in 10th grade at the time of our sassing...

He's a year behind us. I'm pretty sure we were seniors because Hunt won and it was an upset, which wouldn't have been the case our junior year with Larry Carter, Bobby Hines & Minky on the team.

I did, about a year ago, to prove that Hunt basketball was competitive in the county throughout the early '80s. I did not, however, come across a story that chronicled Shack being heckled by 2 courtside louts in a game at Hunt. It's too bad, though. It would have made a great sidebar.

You could've seen when Hunt beat Kinston at home. Maybe we beat them our junior and senior year, but my memory is that it was Larry Carter's team that beat Kinston when we were courtside heckling Shackleford, which means we would've been juniors and Shackleford a saphmore...

That was painful

Grayson Allen gets hit with a technical in the Wake Forest game. Right now Duke is losing but not by much.

Allen got basically beat up at the Wake bench and got a technical to boot.
