And by 'single malt and a stoagie' he means 'ripple and a swisher sweet'.
Kansan, after all.

Damn, I didn't see that. Did he post it and we just blew right past it?
Sorry, DS. I'm sure you had some good times with him.

I took it to mean that someone saw it on Facebook and posted it here. DS did post about his dad's ailments, his fighting spirit and his 280Z a month, or so, back...but his dad was still fighting the good fight. Sometime between then and now, he must have "gone to glory" as the old folk say. It obviously must be tough on him. Condolences again.

Thank you all for the kind words and to Hedge for reaching out to me the other day. The past few days have been a whirlwind. He finally met a near death experience he couldn't beat. Nothing lasts forever, but we'll always have his memories and the things he taught us.
His visitation starts in a little over a half hour at 1:00, and we're doing the service after that at 3:00. Sometime during that, I'm going to have to do the hardest fucking thing I can imagine doing: I am going to eulogize the one person who was larger than life to me. It took half a fifth of Glenlivet to write the eulogy last night. It's a damn shame my family wasn't Episcopalian. I could have probably gone in the back and had some personal communion to help make it through this.
It could be a hell of a lot worse though. I could have never had him.
In the end, it was a hell of a bargain. I had him as a father, and if you told me I had to do it all again, it would be tough knowing he suffered, but we all would.
He was tougher than half of Camp Lejune combined. Toughest...and greatest man I ever knew. That's for damn sure.
Though I will miss his physical presence, he left me with lessons and memories that will last a lifetime, and I can rest easy knowing he is no longer suffering and living in a fate worse than death.

I'm watching Duke lose to Louisville. Giles is going to end up with like 6 points.
I think I know what caused Coach K's bad back this time around. It hurt a little worse after each practice.

Good on ya, DS! Knock it out of the park or your dad will surely kick your ass over yet another blunder!

Nice thoughts, DS. It's tough when your hero is gone. Good words though, I'm afraid there will be no one to hold us here in that high regard.

Duke sent your Dad off right...and gave you a bit of salve for your wounds, too. Tell your brother in law to eat a dick.

The first thing I asked him was "what was the score for your game?"
He said "we don't play until tonight."
I replied "you know I am talking about Dook."
He hung his head in shame.
The eulogy was brutal. I choked up a few times, but I made it through it.
Do you want to know how much my dad loved me? Well, Dad was such a huge State fan that he pulled for the USSR against UNC in an exhibition. When I was a small child, he had season tickets to State football and split basketball tickets. My mom went back to school and obtained her BSN at Carolina, and I became a Carolina fan because of her...despite his best efforts. Well, after a while, he stopped pulling for State against Carolina and became a full fledged Heel, to the dismay of many in his family and to the shock of those who knew him.

LMAO...

I'm sure you did a good job and made the old man proud...
