I am sympathetic to liberals when they try to help the poor, the sick and the hungry. But they do all kinds of things that go go way beyond those things which I strongly disagree with. That list would include environmental wacko-ism, like what they did in California, which CREATES poor, sick and hungry people in order to save a 2 inch fish. Another would be an staggering naivete negotiating with extremely evil people like the Iranians. A redux of Neville Chamberlain does NOT help the poor, the sick and the hungry. Another is abortion, where liberals who supposedly love the weak and the helpless and innocent have no problem with killing the MOST weak and helpless and innocent - babies.

And even the good things liberals try to do are usually grossly mismanaged. Public education is a liberal enterprise run by liberals, but with all their good intentions, America's public schools are producing kids who are WAY behind most other developed countries. Social security, Obamacare and other safety nets are liberal ideas championed by liberals, but they often ignore the question of how we are going to pay for them. The Greeks are discovering that massive social spending and triple GDP debt do not help the poor, the sick and the hungry. Rather, such policies create them in the long run. But if social safety nets REALLY help people and pass the simple math test, I am sympathetic to them.

Republicans Will Skip Annual La Raza Conference, A Chance To Pick Up Latino Votes

Not even Marco Rubio? Wow. And they expect to challenge Hilary?

I'm not all that familiar with La Raza, but its name "The Race" sounds pretty extreme. If they demand open borders, immediate amnesty and reparations, then there is little reason to go there since there are no votes up for grabs there. It's like skipping a Louis Farrakhan event because you know you'll never get black votes there.

Instead, Rubio and Cruz and even Jeb should challenge Hillary to a debate in Spanish on Telemundo.

All the other developed countries utilize government schools, same as us. Asian schools kick our butts in non-cognitive skills; we kick theirs on the cognitive side. Mostly, we've stayed the same achievement-wise the last 20 years or so - other countries have caught or passed us. Sadly there's a huge achievement gap in America; some areas and some minorities grossly underperform, no doubt.

Anecdotaly...my young nieces and nephews are so steeped in social media I wonder if they ever crack a textbook open. Apparently some don't.

National Council of La Raza. http://www.nclr.org/ At one point they did have some GOP Latinos on the board, but I think they've all died off . . .

Oh well. It's one thing to concede 90% of the Colored (toe's word) vote . . . It's another thing entirely to concede 75% (heading to 80%) of the Latino vote. At this rate, the GOP will need 90% of the white vote to win a national election.

Good call, although it took an extra week.

The eurozone taking on Greece made as much sense as the big ten taking on Rutgers.

Best thing I read about Greece today involved that famous J Paul Getty line:

"If you owe the bank $100 dollars, that's your problem. If you owe the bank $100 million dollars...that's the bank's problem."

I like Margaret Thatcher's quote

'"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.'"

Basically, the Northern countries of Europe that have the Protestant work ethic are tired of funding the lazy drunken Catholic countries to the South.

Agreed. We need to follow Sweden's model of a sweeping social welfare system that provides virtually cost-free health-care and a pension/unemployment/social security system that is run by Sweden's strong labor unions and everything is paid for by the 60% tax rate on high earners.

Plus, Sweden has some seriously hot babes!

Skipping a La Raza event hardly constitutes writing off the Latino vote. Trump's rhetoric, however, is. The Establishment Republicans are clearly distancing themselves from the xenophobics of Trump. The Country Clubbers want illegal immigration as much as the Dem's do. Cheap labor is good for business.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but he is right about the reporter's research. That Pew survey was surveying all immigrants, both legal and illegal. My guess is the legal immigrants water down the comparison.
