You know one of the things I hate about fantasy football (in my league, anyway):
I have the Eagles D/ST. They hold the Cowboys to 7 points. Absolutely kicked their asses. The Eagles D gave me 12.4 fantasy points.
My opponent has the Saint's D/ST. They gave up 31 points and had a kick blocked in a losing effort vs the RAMS (are you kidding me)? The Saints D gave him 16.6 points.
That's just fucking wrong.

I had Drew Brees and with his 2 interceptions I got 12 points.
Tim Tebow didn't manage a TD and he got 14.6 points
Well I guess he did score a TD in the final minutes of the game but still
I did get 29 points off Detroits Defense, which I'm happy about but I also think is absurd.

How do you earn Defensive points? Takeaways?

Takeaways and scores I believe.

D/St gives points for takeaways, total score (the fewer points allowed, the higher the score), and return yards on punts/kickoffs.
The Saints had a ton of return yards or a pick-6 or something, I suppose. But it still sucks ass.

Watching A&M play defense is the most aggravating fucking thing in the world. It's not like they are even terrible in the usual sense. Everybody in the Big 12 has to face some ridiculous offenses and the way the games are officiated doesn't help, but A&M seems kinda average when watching them, even though the stats look bad (the stats for almost every Big 12 team looks bad).
Here's a comparison between our defense and one statistically worse...
Code: Select all
Team GM Plays Yds Avg TDs Ydspgm Car Net Avg TDs Ydspgm
Oklahoma St 8 660 3645 5.52 26 455.63 343 1484 4.33 14 185.50
Texas A&M 8 627 3389 5.41 26 423.63 279 843 3.02 12 105.38
Team Patt Pcomp Papct Ydscmp Yds Ydsatt TDs Ydspgm Sacks PG
Oklahoma St 317 190 59.94 11.37 2161 6.82 9 270.13 22.0 2.75
Texas A&M 348 221 63.51 11.52 2546 7.32 14 318.25 30.0 3.75
Now we get to the real issue.
Takeaways
Oklahoma St-29
Texas A&M-6
6 fucking takeaways. And its even goddamn worse if you consider that we had two interceptions in our first 2 defensive series of the season, and then our 3rd takeaway came when Justin Blackmon decided he'd rather sling the ball out of the back of the endzone rather than score with nobody around him inches from scoring a touchdown. The rest of the year has been one long donkey fuck of defenders getting hit in the hands (or much more often having the pass hit them in the back, because they dont ever look for the ball), or having a quarterback get stripped and the ball just lays there on the turf while our guy is sitting right next to it completely oblivious that the play is still going on (not that we even force very many fumbles). It's almost amazing we arent one of the very fucking worst teams in college football with 6 takeaways. If we just had a goddamn normal number like 10-15 we would probably be 8-0 (possibly 7-1) right now. We're average at making the other team punt, sometimes we even stop a team on 4th, but every single other goddamn possession is a 15 play march to the goddamn endzone.

There can be no doubt: god is punishing the Ags for Francione.

God is punishing the Ags for their role in the destruction of the Big East. I mean, just look at how many catholic schools are in the conference!

I'm pretty sure god wanted the Big East destroyed anyway. Maybe he is punishing the Ags for taking too long?

Wrong. God is putting down his punishment because aTm developed the spoiler tag.

Some of Okie State's yards are allowed after they've gone up by three and four touchdowns. That's another difference between them and A&M. The Ags are allowing yardage in close games where Okie State has already gotten up by a good amount on pretty much all but one opponent so far this season and can afford to kind of just play off and keep things in front.
Takeaways are a big issue, though. You can't have just six through eight games.

Well another smaller part of A&M's problem is that we no longer score once we get up by 3 scores or else we could say the same thing.

Also, leave it to the Texans to again make a blowout look closer than what it is.
Total offense: Houston 358, Jax 174
Time of Possession: Houston 35:19, Jax 24:41
But,
Neil Rackers misses a FG, Matt Schaub overthrows Jacoby Jones for what would've been a big TD play and then both he and Ben Tate fumble, giving Jax's horrid offense two short TD drives. The Tate fumble was especially bad because it ruined yet another scoring drive. This was a 34-0 game camouflaged by a hum-drum 24-14 score.
They're winning but they're still doing dumb shit to keep games close or, in the case of both the Raiders and Saints games, blow them outright.
