Americans twice as likely to be killed by right-wing terrorism than Muslim jihadists

Nearly twice as many Americans have been killed by right-wing extremists since 9/11 as have died at the hands of radical Muslims on US soil, a new report found. There have also been nearly three times as many deadly right-wing attacks as jihadist ones.

In almost a decade-and-a-half, 48 Americans have died in the US in 19 attacks by white supremacists, so-called “sovereign citizens” and other non-Muslim extremists, while 26 have died in seven jihadist attacks on US soil during that same time period, research center New America found as it compiled a new database on deadly attacks in the US since 9/11.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

Really? Russian Times?

One could spend a whole day mocking the argument in that article. That's even worse than your Walton family supremacist claim.

So there have been 3 times more attacks by right wing extremists, but only twice as many deaths. I guess that means right wing extremists are 33% more inept than arab terrorists...

Did the Russian Times misrepresent the actual source of the data? Why do you find this so absurd when all they are doing is reporting on the findings of a study.

Russian Times is a propaganda arm of a foreign (and not exactly friendly) government. The study may actually be legit, but I think the idea that they might have misrepresented it is certainly open to question with that source.

My personal opinion is that study and report are merely demonstrating obvious conclusions with no real meaning. Terrorists with American traits are more common in America than terrorists with foreign traits? Shocking. Not to mention that its dated "since 9/11" an event which would skew the report by orders of magnitude if you just go back one more day. It's also not clear what it means. Does it mean that "right-wing extremists" (a label that may mean something totally different in the political framework of Russian Times, than it would another outlet) are more dangerous than muslim terrorists? Does it mean that American law enforcement doesn't do as good a job of preventing it vs muslim extremism? Does it mean that since 9/11 our narrowminded focus on muslim extremeism has just been very successful? Did we just get lucky as a people by allowing them to kill our troops on foreign soil rather than jump through hoops to kill us on US soil? It might mean loads of things.

According to the Russian Times, a study proves there is a .056% chance that there are Russian troops fighting in Eastern Ukraine.

According to the Russian Times, a study proves there is a .016% chance that the Putin government had anything to do with the assassination of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov in Red Square.

According to the Russian Times, a study proves there is a 125% chance that all those journalists who wrote articles critical of Putin and were promptly murdered actually died of natural causes.

According to the Russian Times, a study proves there is a 274% chance that former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko, who died of a massive dose of extremely rare and highly radioactive polonium in his sandwich at a London restaurant, was actually poisoned by a waiter who felt under-tipped.

According to the Russian Times, a study proves there is a 298% chance that all those businessmen who were sent to prison, and whose corporations were taken over by Putin cronies - those businessmen were all guilty serious crimes against the State.

So if the Russian Times says more people were killed by right wing extremists than by Muslim radicals, then it MUST be true.

Doesn't make the argument any less ridiculous. The fact that there are only 48 in grown terrorist deaths in 14 years while having no national initiative to stop them shows its not a big issue compared to other homicides like the over 3,000 homicides committed by illegal immigrants in the same time period.

"Does it mean that "right-wing extremists" (a label that may mean something totally different in the political framework of Russian Times, than it would another outlet) are more dangerous than muslim terrorists?"

Actually, I think it show they are less dangerous. As I said, I think by including the data about number of attacks and kill rate, they were trying to show that muslum terrorists were more effective than homegrown right wing extremists. Maybe they were using those numbers as the line of distinction b/w terrorists and mere extremists...

I wonder where they group the killing of those muslim kids in Chapel Hill by crazy whitey? Yes, it's homegrown, but the victims were muslims. A conundrum...

FWIW, it doesn't seem as if that act got nearly the air time or provoked near as much discussion about racism (or whatever you'd call it) as this church killing has, although it seems like the killer's motivations were exactly the same...

They did not include that incident because it was later found that the guy was ticked off about the kids always taking his parking spot, not because they were muslim. The older I get the more I feel that people of any race parking in my reserved spot is justifiable homicide.
