I'm from the upper Mid-Eastern part of the state.. We don't have that 'twang' you hear from the southeasterners. We're a bit more cultured and refined.

It just tells you how much revenue is brought in from football...directly and indirectly.

That Med School Department Chair is not that surprising when you try to identify a single relevant football or basketball team in New York.

What is the Mississippi double asterisk, that the state pays most of their government workers in ignorance and resentment?

For the first time in approximately 32 years, Duke and North Carolina can’t rely on homecourt advantage to get them to the Sweet 16.

The NCAA has pulled seven postseason events from the state of North Carolina for the 2016-17 academic year, including the first and second round games from Greensboro Coliseum. The move is in response to HB2, the controversial North Carolina law that is accused of discriminating against LGBT people.

It’s a shame that Duke will not get the chance to replicate their last first round NCAA Tournament appearance at Greensboro Coliseum…

loved the republican response even if slightly overblown

"Kami Mueller, Spokesperson, North Carolina GOP

“This is so absurd it’s almost comical. I genuinely look forward to the NCAA merging all men’s and women’s teams together as singular, unified, unisex teams. Under the NCAA’s logic, colleges should make cheerleaders and football players share bathrooms, showers and hotel rooms. This decision is an assault on female athletes across the nation. If you are unwilling to have women’s bathrooms and locker rooms, how do you have a women’s team? I wish the NCAA was this concerned about the women who were raped at Baylor. Perhaps the NCAA should stop with their political peacocking — and instead focus their energies on making sure our nation’s collegiate athletes are safe, both on and off the field

It's another non-issue that the social conservatives are going to lose. Hell, they've already lost...

the thing that is driving the trump train in my opinion is you have a lot of conservatives out there that if you say anything do anything support anything that is the LBGT BLM etc etc you are branded a racist sexist or homophobe whether you have a valid argument or concern or not
white America is keeping its collective mouth shut--latest example is kaepernicks social injustice protest. He is protesting police brutality and has 20-30 co protestors now fanning the flames that cops are racists. now you have cops wondering why they should stick their necks out in south Chicago when all they are is branded racists by most people they encounter. (nfl is basically allowing this to continue every week now it gets bigger--commnentators are tiptoeing nobody sticking up for the cops)

anyway point being many voters who cant say anything out loud for fear of being branded something they are not will vote for trump --I expect him to get a surge from the silent minority and Hillary to get lukewarm support from her base

Yeah, we're really worried about playing Monmouth in the first round in Richmond or Atlanta or DC. Of course, UK could've used a friendlier site for their second round game last year, I suppose...

Speaking of racist cops, I got a ticket in Pinetops this morning for doing 41 in a 35. Black cop, about my age. Couldn't believe he wrote that ticket. It was 7:15 in the morning, no school buses out yet and anyway I was past the school and anyway (again) the speed limit was 35 and fixin to change to 55 so I was speeding up. I said "I can't believe you're writing a ticket for this" he said "well I did" and I said "Barney Fife would be proud of you." I can't remember what he said after that, but I said "This is bullshit" and he practically charged back to my car door and angrily said "You won't get out of the car and say that or I'll taze you!" and he put his hand on his taser. I said "you're going to taze me for exercising my first amendment right to free speech? I haven't threatened you, I was just stating my opinion about this ticket and you're threatening to taze me for that??" At that point he rushed back to his car and screeched off. OK, I started this post with "speaking of racist cops", I really don't think this was a case of racism, just some small town cop flexing his muscles. I'm wan't worried about the ticket, I'm sure I'll get that reduced to nothing, but it did piss me off that he threatened to taze me just for saying "this is bullshit"...
