Keep your beliefs and live by them...allow me to keep mine, as well, though.

Sometimes, mainstream religion is wrong:crashcourse wrote:anytime the government mandates Gay lesbian and transvestite celebrations in government institutions there's no doubt it is at the expense of religion.
mainstream religion is getting pounded from liberal America to abandon centuries of religious beliefs of what constitutes sin and what doesn't. religion's core values are being challenged and abandoned and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Even though my sense is there isn't an entity that created us for the purpose of eternal damnation if we are non compliant --I do think religions teachings are for the most part beneficial to society as a whole.
http://www.ushistory.org/us/27f.asp Defenders of slavery argued that the institution was divine, and that it brought Christianity to the heathen from across the ocean. Slavery was, according to this argument, a good thing for the enslaved. John C. Calhoun said, "Never before has the black race of Central Africa, from the dawn of history to the present day, attained a condition so civilized and so improved, not only physically, but morally and intellectually."
http://request.org.uk/issues/social-iss ... apartheid/ The white-dominated ‘Dutch Reformed Church’ supported apartheid, arguing from the Bible that God deliberately divided people into different races (see Genesis 11) but used this to suggest therefore that the whites were superior to blacks. The Bible says: ‘There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all Christians–you are one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3: 28). They reconciled this to their beliefs by suggesting that people were spiritually equal, but not physically equal.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

That was a blatant misinterpretation of scripture twisted to justify their racism. Can you argue that the current belief that scripture is against homosexual activity a gross misinterpretation of scripture?

How can someone be against homosexual activity after they just claimed that there was no male and female?
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

I disagree with gay marriage, but I'm also a libertarian. If states choose to legalize gay marriage, that's democracy. We had a culture war, and my side lost. End of story.

Americans now have a more favorable view of former President George W. Bush than they do of President Barack Obama.
It is the first time in more than a decade that Americans have expressed a favorable view of Bush, at least according to a new CNN/ORC poll released Wednesday.
Bush is seen in a favorable light by 52 percent of those surveyed, compared with 43 percent who still view the 43rd president unfavorably. Americans are split on Obama, with 49 percent responding favorably and unfavorably.
What new giveaway will Brock announce now, free ice cream?
Always knew he'd beat out Carter and W to the bottom, didn't expect it this quick.

POLL SHOWS REAGAN APPROVAL RATING AT 4-YEAR LOWToemeesleather wrote:Americans now have a more favorable view of former President George W. Bush than they do of President Barack Obama.

http://www.nytimes.com/1987/03/03/us/po ... r-low.html
The survey, taken Saturday and Sunday after the release of the report of a Presidential commission on the Iran arms deal, found that 42 percent of those surveyed approved of the way Mr. Reagan was handling his job and 46 percent disapproved.
It was his lowest rating since January 1983, when 41 percent approved of his performance. The survey also marked the first time since April 1983, when the nation was coming out of a deep recession, that more Americans disapproved than approved of Mr. Reagan's performance. Drop of 10 Points
Mr. Reagan's approval rating dropped 10 percentage points since a Times/CBS News Poll five weeks ago. Though this was not as vast as the 21-percentage-point decline Mr. Reagan suffered in November after the Iran scandal came to light, it was a significant drop, especially since the President is now losing ground from a smaller base of more committed supporters.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That is the nature of presidential polling in your 2nd term. St. Reagan was a bum and an Alzheimer's-addled has been in 1987. By 1990, he was polling ahead of Santa.
By 2019, Barry will be mentioned with George Washington and Abe Lincoln in the Presidential pantheon.

Between ISIS, Duggars, and Kardashians/Jenner, prez candidates will have to come stronger to get a headline, especially in a crowded field. Ted Cruz making tasteless remarks about Joe Biden while he is burying his son is a worthy effort.

I wonder if Fox News had anything to say about that. I recall Sean Hannity feigning outrage at Christopher Hitchens after Jerry Falwell died b/c of Hitchens's "mean-spirited" remarks about the fallen evangelist. Seems Sean was concerned that it might upset Falwell's fambly during their time of grief....

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
So even the Environmental Protection Agency now concedes that fracking is safe, which won’t surprise anyone familiar with the reality of unconventional oil and natural gas drilling in the U.S. But if no less than the EPA is saying this, then the political opposition doesn’t have much of a case left.
“We did not find evidence that these mechanisms have led to widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water resources in the United States,” the EPA observes in a 1,399-page report and multiple appendices. By mechanisms, the researchers mean the practice of injecting water and chemicals into shale at high pressure to extract oil or natural gas.
The environmental movement has stoked speculative fears about chemical mixes leaching into aquifers, poisoned potable water and toxic spills. States including New York, Maryland, California and Vermont have used this pretext for fracking moratoriums or bans. Yet the EPA study is the most exhaustive review ever conducted of the scientific literature and fracking in practice. Dozens of researchers spent five years and likely tens of millions of dollars.
EPA’s conclusion really is remarkable. The agency has yearned for an excuse to take over fracking regulation from the states, which do the job well. So if there was so much as a sliver of evidence that fracking was dangerous, the EPA would have found it. Think of this as the Obama Administration’s equivalent of the Bush Administration failing to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
