BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson and three teammates met Tuesday with investigators looking into a bar fight that injured four people, and police said they were cooperative.

"They did not invoke the fifth amendment. They gave their side of the story," Baton Rouge police chief Dewayne White said. "They provided additional witnesses they knew were there that night, and those were witnesses we intend to run down and get their statement."

The most seriously injured victim has three broken vertebrae, White said. There have been no arrests and no charges have been filed, but White stressed that police hope to gather enough evidence to arrest whoever is responsible for the victims' injuries.

If arrests are made, charges could range from misdemeanor simple battery to felony second-degree battery, Sgt. Don Stone said.

locally, the papers said that the investigation could take 5 to 10 days. 10 days from today is Sept 3 (the day of the game against Oregon)

Ordinarily, losing your starting QB to suspension just before the season opening game against a top five team is a bad thing. This might be the exception to that rule.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Authorities searched LSU starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson's apartment on Wednesday and collected a swab of his DNA in connection with a bar fight last week that injured four people.

"He gave us 100 percent cooperation," Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Stone said, adding that the quarterback's attorney also showed up and that authorities didn't ask Jefferson any questions.

"During the course of the investigation we got enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant for his home. The reason was to search for certain items that will assist in the ongoing investigation and will help either prove or disprove the allegations against Jefferson," Stone said.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Two employees of the bar where LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and three teammates are accused of injuring four people in a parking lot brawl said Thursday that one of the victims "threw the first punch" shortly after he had been escorted outside by staff.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Shady's Bar general manager John Peak and door manager Jordan Neldare offer versions of the bar fight that differ from details in a police report released Thursday. Neldare said he was outside and witnessed the fight firsthand but had not yet been interviewed by police.

Interesting. So, if the guy threw the first punch and was later kicked in the head by Jefferson in a fight, is that reasonable defense by Jefferson?

I know the police severd a search warrant and confiscated 49 pairs of Jefferson's shoes (what young male has 49 pairs of shoes?).

Look, some idiot throws a punch at me, they get double-tapped by a Glock 21. They would be praying to change that with a kick to the head.

immediately shooting him would be okay. Shooting him lying on the ground will put you in jail.
