"They did not invoke the fifth amendment. They gave their side of the story," Baton Rouge police chief Dewayne White said. "They provided additional witnesses they knew were there that night, and those were witnesses we intend to run down and get their statement."
The most seriously injured victim has three broken vertebrae, White said. There have been no arrests and no charges have been filed, but White stressed that police hope to gather enough evidence to arrest whoever is responsible for the victims' injuries.
If arrests are made, charges could range from misdemeanor simple battery to felony second-degree battery, Sgt. Don Stone said.

"He gave us 100 percent cooperation," Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Stone said, adding that the quarterback's attorney also showed up and that authorities didn't ask Jefferson any questions.
"During the course of the investigation we got enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant for his home. The reason was to search for certain items that will assist in the ongoing investigation and will help either prove or disprove the allegations against Jefferson," Stone said.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Shady's Bar general manager John Peak and door manager Jordan Neldare offer versions of the bar fight that differ from details in a police report released Thursday. Neldare said he was outside and witnessed the fight firsthand but had not yet been interviewed by police.
LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and linebacker Joshua Johns are turning themselves into police, their attorney, Nathan Fisher, said Friday.

So, if the guy threw the first punch and was later kicked in the head by Jefferson in a fight, is that reasonable defense by Jefferson?
