I was surprised at Schalke's ineptitude yesterday. Not that I expected them to get through over two legs, but I thought they'd do better at home and have a chance at a draw at least. More importantly, things are trending Madrid's way now. Mourinho seems to be in Guardiola's head, Madrid is on great form, Barca looks tired, and Iniesta is out today (might like to have Cesc for cover about now). All that and today's game is about a toss up from the oddsmakers, which shows how much respect Barca get ordinarily.

Barca is, undoubtedly, a brilliant side -- but they can fuck themselves. This is disgraceful. Madrid aren't too far behind. The sheer volume of shit fucking awful dives and whining to/surrounding the referee is a fucking disgrace. I'd rather watch ManU carve S04 up 11 times out of 10 than watch this shit.

Not me, I'd rather watch Messi pick his nose for 90 minutes than anything Man U and Schalke can produce, but point taken that it was mostly rubbish. Too much diving and card solicitation and the red was unjustified, but still, Mourinho can only blame himself since Madrid's strategy was to disrupt the Barca rhythm through cheap fouls in the middle of the field. They've got a ton of talent, but he goes with three defensive mids cluttering up the middle in Pepe, Diarra, and Xabi Alonso, and leaves Kaka, Benzema, and Higuain out completely while only bringing on Adebayor when he pulls off Oezil. I don't know if they could beat Barca playing attacking soccer and starting one or two more creative, attacking threats to score, but I would've liked to find out in the home leg coming off the Copa del Rey success and destroying a good Valencia team on the road last weekend.

I can't stand Barca's diving, theatrics and grotesque "posse whining". Fuck them. I won't let their skill and brilliance color my judgment on that.

Your criticisms of Real are absolutely fair. On the whole, it was a completely horrible match. Not even Messi's 2nd lent it any redeeming qualities. I would have rather watched a Stoke-Albion fixture. At least I'd know I'm watching honest effort.

In short, I fear that as the match begins, I'll find myself rooting for ManU in the final. Fucking hell.

I'm sure bartha will play a beautiful game up 2 away goals in the net leg. Maybe even go for the killer secret weapon, the "fake it tip we are TWO men up" stratagem.

I can mostly understand that point of view, right up to the "find myself rooting for ManU" part.

And yeah, nice job by Real Salt Lake. Get a draw with two away goals in Mexico and shit the bed at home. Pitiful.

There has to be some caveat to that "record" that I'm missing. Only Premier League goals and only in the Premier League era maybe?

Right, it's for the Premier League era.
