Yeah, I'd rather have lost earlier in the tourny than have to endure that. Like say losing to Indiana or somebody in the 2nd round. I'd feel alot better about that than losing the NC on a buzzer beater 3 pointer. Yeah, that the ticket. At least then there wouldn't be any videos of sad fans, b/c nobody gives enough of a fuck about a team that loses in the 2nd round to waste the time to shoot a video of it...

Ulis to declare for the draft today... Should make eCat jump with joy knowing another Calipari OAD is making room for another OAD.

a perfect ending to the season really - for anyone with a sense of fairness -With the sword of damocles hanging over all season, millions spent on PR and strategy to keep it from falling and push the inevitable sanctions out to beyond the tournament for the sole purpose of Roy riding this team to one last championship. The deserved championship for a program desperately trying to give its fans and supporters a taste of greatness that would sustain their thirst for glory thru the upcoming drought levied by the El Nino known as the NCAA. A drought brought on by hubris and greed.

UNC just a cunny hair away from the national championship on the last best team Roy Williams will have at UNC. They had it, they knew it - destiny was on their side with that improbable shot by their star play Paige. UNC would ride the momentum to overtime and take their place as the rightful best team in college basketball of 2016. The administration, the coaching staff, the players - all had put too much effort into getting to this point to not own the moment.

Then a dagger thrown by Kris Jenkins, adopted by the family of Nate Britt, a UNC player no less who told UNC that fairy tales are not the creation of Disney but of the brothers Grimm

I told a co-worker Monday morning that Villanova was going to win on a last-second shot. The setting was too good for UNC to actually do what it was supposed to do.

Now the NCAA will, of course, announce the conclusion of the investigation and no major punishment will be handed out. If the players who can return to UNC do, then the Heels will be a top 10 next year. The 2017-18 season might be rough but should be smooth sailing again after that.

On the other hand, Duke and Kentucky have 2 years to win a title before UNC starts getting the type of recruits they've been gobbling up the past 2 years.

even if that were true - which it won't be, Roy doesn't know how to recruit those players

K is about to steal Bolden from UK which might be the first time we lost a player we really needed under Cal.

you know why I think UNC is going to get hit with some pretty serious stuff?

Not because I think the NCAA wants to ...matter of fact, they have shown they don't want to, but because they have too many precedents - take Georgia and Jim Harrick for example,

In 2004 the NCAA placed Georgia on four years' probation for the violations. It also forced the Bulldogs to vacate half of their wins from 2001–02 and all of their wins from 2002–03—30 games in all. Harrick, Jr. was given a seven-year show-cause penalty order for his role in the academic fraud, as well as telling two of the players involved to lie to the NCAA. The "show-cause" effectively blackballed him from the college ranks until 2011 at the earliest.

and secondly, because if they don't , the fallout for letting Carolina skate will be immense from opposing fans.

The fallout? What, opposing fans are going to whine even harder than they are now in internet forums, if that's even possible? Wow, that's a chilling scenario...

Man, you've lost your way. You really think the NCAA cares about what fans think? As long as they keep spending their money on the NCAA, it's all good.

I've said before the NCAA can and will do how it pleases but I don't think it will hit UNC with a major violation because there's no specific rule that was broken (at least by what has been proven) and, mostly, it endangers the entire business plan for the NCAA if UNC is found guilty. You've had 3 years of Carolina being punished by not being punished with regards to recruiting (at least in men's basketball).

You should look more at how the NCAA handled Syracuse rather than Georgia as a barometer for potential UNC penalties. Syracuse did its time and then went to the Final Four the same year.

Funny how things change. I'm good with UNC just ponying up for its damage and returning to its usual spot in the college basketball pantheon and eCat is has become a screecher for virtue in the game. It's like UNC and UK fans have switched places since the '90s.

you think this is about virtue of the game?

this is about every time UNC posted a picture of that sports illustrated cover while they were doing this bullshit in Chapel Hill going back to the Dean Smith

UNC needs to fucking burn - down to the cinders

and fans cover alot of ground - twitter, email, blogs - they have access today that no one had 20 years ago. I wouldn't underestimate the continual effort by people who have made sure to remind the NCAA of Carolina's transgressions. Its why UNC has had to spend millions in an effort to hide "no specific rules being broken"

If there was a specific rule that was broken, this would have been over several years ago. You should be happy with how it's played out though. Some of those kids who have signed with UK in that time would have been wearing light blue by now.
