We must never discriminate against Cannibis-Americans. They have suffered anti-THC bigotry for far too long. The hatred stops HERE.

American standards, what ever that is, continue to go down the tubes, I guess, in the name of progress.....since these are progressives that keep lowering the standards.

What no one expected is what Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake admitted in a press conference on Sunday: that she asked the Baltimore Police Department to “give those who wished to destroy space to do that.”

....smacks of an extension of Brock/PAH's Benghazi policy.

Should Ted Cruz be discriminated against by a hotel for his beliefs?

Yes. You can discriminate based on politics. Ask Jeremiah Wright.

Hoteliers are bound by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act, therefore there can be no discrimination based on gender, race, religion, national origin, or disability. And New York state has laws against public-place discrimination involving sexual orientation. So if Ted Cruz really is gay as some suspect, then denying him a Manhattan apartment could be problematic.

Otherwise, he can be refused service for being an asshole (or a notorious celebrity or public figure).

Ted Cruz is Southern Baptist so, of course, it is his religious conviction that homosexuals should not marry. I see your point that it is his political belief, but it is also his religious belief so you have an overlap.

Let's say that a Wisconsin hotelier who is Baptist and has a religious conviction against homosexual marriage is asked by the Tammy Baldwin campaign to hold a fundraiser. He denies the request, not because she is gay, but because she holds a political position of pro homosexual marriage and he disagrees with it. Is he discriminating against her?

There are 22 states with strong laws against discrimination based on sexual orientation and Wisconsin is in that group - plus WI is a gay marriage state. I think your scenario would make for a pretty good courtroom scrape (with appeals right up the line, regardless of the lower court decision). It would probably behoove the innkeeper to deny Baldwin for being a tax-loving lib instead.

Whereas in,say Tennessee, there'd be no court challenge and the hotel operator would get a special commendation from the Lt. Governor, an offer to open a legislative session with a prayer, and free tickets to Dixie Stampede.

I'd respect the zealot who owns a hotel more if he added some of the other Levitican laws into his business.

No room if they wear a clothes made of more than one kind of thread.
No room if the guy is clean-shaven or has cut his hair.

Etc, etc...

Who discriminated against Jeremiah Wright? (Unless you count the Iranian Ayatollahs' charging Wright of plagiarizing their sermons.)

Leviticus is what the Baptist is quoting to hate on the gays, I believe. They still leave that chapter (and Deuteronomy) in Baptist bibles.

The RNC. They bought $4,000.00 worth of his books & videos in January of 2008, but haven't purchased any since then. Bigots.
