I always assumed that the GOP Establishment would nominate Jeb Bush. But Marco Rubio might get selected by the Chamber of Commerce instead.

Isn't Rubio trying to be more of an Establishment guy, hedging about climate change and healthcare? Pretty sure you said the next nominee should be somebody conservative to the core and not a sell-out like McCain and Romney.

Does it really matter? I'm preparing for 8 more years of bitching from the Pubes while nothing gets done. First they lose to a black dude and now some cunt? The Pubes are really going to freak out this time. God help us all.

I said the next nominee should be a conservative that would turn out the base which Romney spectacularly failed to do in the general election, thereby ensuring his defeat. I also said would probably not happen. The corporatists will nominate another weakling, and he will lose.
Professor Tiger wrote:Heh. America will elect another Muslim from Kenya before we'll elect a Republican POTUS.
I'm not sure if you noticed, but we had an election a couple of weeks ago. And the Dem's got their collective asses handed to them. The American people don't seem to have the same blind mystical devotion to the Dem's as you have and impute to them. Hillary was the slam dunk, sure-fire, guaranteed Democrat nominee in 2008, until she wasn't. She's a fairly weak candidate with very few accomplishments in her life.
But you're right - the GOP may nominate another RINO goober like Romney, or McCain, or Dole. That might be enough to sneak the PAH back into the White House.
And JD, I think you're right that Bush is the next GOP presidential nominee. The Establishment trusts him because he is from a family that is one of them (like Romney was). And since he is already Establishment-approved, that means he is already the de facto nominee before Iowa even casts a vote (just like Romney was).
You'll probably get your wish on this one. Jeb would be very appealing to the Establishment, and they usually get their way. Christie could be in the running as the Establishment selectee too, especially now that he has been cleared of wrongdoing in bridgegate, despite your assurances that he would be in an XXXXXXL orange jumpsuit by now.
Of course, yet another further additional Bush running for president would be another further additional loser, even when he goes up against likely Dem nominee Eiizabeth Warren. But the Establishment won't care. When Bush or Christie or Romney 2.0 lose, the Establishment will advance their agenda the good old-fashioned way - through K street bribery. Life will still be good.

Hail Solyndra!
I'd love to see solar outcompete the power companies, and move us further and further away from dependence on Middle Eastern oil.

I see that President Obama has sent the USS Theodore Roosevelt battle group to the waters near Yemen. This is in response to ships from Iran suspected of carrying arms to deliver to the Yemeni Houthis.
The captain of the TR is under strict orders to surrender to the first Iranian tugboat that approaches.

(AP) Washington - The Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has announced that, as a precondition for continued negotiations over their nuclear program, the American first-lady must join his harem. US Secretary of State John Kerry described the new Iranian demand as "constructive" and "sets a new and positive development in the search for a peaceful solution." President Obama is reportedly taking Michelle to Camp David for the weekend to break the news to her.

Question for you geeks in here. If Global warming was to keep at its current pace or even increase 3% a year, how long till the earth explodes? Seriously. I'm curious.

The increase of the earth's temperature for the past 17 years has been 0%. So at the current rate, the earth will burst into flames never. Or when Marvin the Martian blows up the earth with his Q36 illudium space modulator. Whichever comes first. Both scenarios are equally scientifically based.
