For whatever reason, we have had guys that easily could've and in some case probably should've gone pro earlier than they did who chose to stay at UNC. Hansbrow was a four time All American, unanimous all ACC his freshman year, etc, etc, he could've easily gone pro after any of his seasons at UNC and chose to stay 4 years. Paige would've gotten drafted after his sophomore year, but he's still here. I don't know why, but I'm not complaining...

Buddy Hield kinda reminds me of Jimi Hendrix...

Are they seriously gonna call a ticky tack palming call on us when Hields game is predicated on shoving his defenders around with his off hand?

According to the odds tracker, aTm is fucked...

I wonder what the odds of aTm coming back in back to back games in which they have low single digit odds to win are?

Probably wouldn't have gotten drafted if he was at UK, now he'll likely be a lottery pick. But of course, highly ranked high school kids don't want to hear "you're not ready for the league now or next year and maybe not until the year after that or the year after that"...

Ulis was projected to be a 4 year guy at UK.

don't underestimate the value of practicing day in and day out with talent

No one would have though Willis had NBA potential - he's shooting 3 pointers at a 44% clip. He's coming back but if he can improve his footwork (i.e. stop being a slow white guy) - he'll be playing pro ball.

I don't know how Johnson would have fared at UK - the question is would he have been pursued? But you can't say Paige was #15 coming in (or whatever) and then try to justify him being a 4 guy as a normal expectation/process for kids today.
I'm not sure what you're getting at. Most kids aren't going to stay 4 years. I think Paige is not really in the normal mold. He's a really bright kid (I've been following him on Twitter for 4 years) and he seems to like being in college. Plus, I don't think his pro prospects are as great as some of the others in his class were.

My original point is that there's nothing unique about UK and playing for Cal that top-rated recruits are getting. Sure, UK is an elite program but there are several others that provide the same exposure as UK. That whole "dribble-drive" thing isn't nearly as discussed now as a few years ago, when talking heads and other media types liked to bandy it about to show they knew their hoops terminology. Cal isn't divulging any great secrets of the game, certainly not in just one year in Lexington. But that's not to say he's not a great coach. His results speak for themselves but he's not giving these kids something they couldn't get at a dozen or more other schools

Didn't one of our Maryland goat penners kill his wifes horse years ago?

Jonquil was like a Georgetown or Villanova fan wasn't he?

St. John's. He was originally Johnny Fan (I think we're talking about the same person here), which of course quickly got sassed into Jonquil. He was a good sport about it, obviously, he ended up claiming it as his moniker. Somehow I am thinking he could be a bit prickly (or something) in some cases. Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else, but for some reason I remember a few minor skirmishes with Jonquil, although overall he was OK...

I know he got married and like overnight she turned into a psycho - the whole horse killing set her off, then someone torched his ford explorer

then he found out after the divorce women will fuck a man with a job and no kids - and he stopped showing up here

Oh shit, yeah. I think he kinda scorned us, he was with some of his lower to mid-level government co-workers and he was nonplussed (original definition) about how to handle introducing internet friends to his real friends. So he kinda just said hello and went back to his table...
