as long as we can agree UNC can't
Maybe a few years ago but not now.
Just goes to show how quickly things can change in college hoops. In just a few years, UNC has lost its claim to being one of the top programs while UK has reclaimed theirs. Hard to see them giving it up anytime soon, certainly if Cal keeps doing what he's doing, but it's not like UNC can't get right back up there pretty quickly. An NC this year would go a long way towards that...
As for Duke and Kansas, who knows what's going to happen when K retires. I doubt they'll go into free fall, but it's pretty easy to imagine that they won't keep on like they have under K. We'll see. As for Kansas, UNC has a more recent NC than them, and since then, they've only been to one FF (in which they gave UK their only NC under Cal). They have also lost in the second round 3 times. Not sure I'd put them at the pinnacle of college hoops based on that, but, like UNC, an NC this year would help their resume considerably. Bottom line is, things can change very quickly in college hoops. UK fans should realize this better than most...

Actually, I started drinking early on Sunday and became embittered when Notre Dame stole ginger chin strap's glory (plus I just hate Notre Dame). I was asleep before 9, hate that I missed watching the odds tracker on those late games...

I think Duke will never regain what they have with K
Duke is a brand under Coach K but he is the reason that brand has stayed strong. It would take a very talented coach - both on and off the court to keep it going and I can't really think of a coach out there in the next 5 years that will be able to bring that to Duke.
It won't happen overnight but it will happen. They'll turn into Davidson
Kansas is a different story though. Regardless of who is coach, they aren't going anywhere.

According to the odds tracker, UNC now has the greatest probability of reaching the finals of any team in the field...

I'll be concerned about UNC as a threat when you replace Roy
as long as that dinosaur is around, I'm fine with UNC's place in college basketball

Not only was Northern Iowa's collapse the worst in tournament history, but it is the worst in NCAA history. No other team in the NCAA has blown a lead of 12 or more in under a minute...EVER.

I remember that Duke Maryland game from a few years ago. That was a pretty epic collapse.

Are you talking about the tourny game from like 2001?

I can't see how that was any greater of a comeback than UNC coming back from down 8 with 17 seconds to go against Dook, and no 3 point line...

No, no, my friend. UNC is still playing, UK is home licking their wounds. Everybody is talking about UNC, nobody is talking about UK!!

Did they stop the clock to retrieve the ball out of the basket back then?

It was worse than the 2007 D II championship game when Barton came back from 10 down in 45 seconds to beat Winona St, which also wore purple. But Anthony Atkinson, now one of the Globetrotters stars, scored all 12 of Barton's points in its 12-2 run

There are several other examples especially in the NBA where a single player scores almost all the points in less than a minute and thus gets a lot of the credit on similar choke jobs. Tracy McGrady single handily beat the Spurs once. The Reggie Miller vs Spike Lee. There's a game where Larry Bird stole a couple inbound passes. It would probably go better for UNI perception wise if the scoring hadn't been evenly distributed like it was.
