Old to be a best man for a friend's first wedding? No doubt. Second, third, or fourth wedding? No, not too old at all.

Sounds like a top ten country music hit.
I dare say what Marcellus did to Zed was far worse than what he got from Zed. He got medieval....
Good point. Something about African-Americans with pliers and blow torches. Auburn hasn't gotten medieval on Bama since the "Honk if you sacked Brodie" game.

I was thinking that people our age on their 3rd or 4th marriage more or less dispensed with the various displays of pomp and circumstance that is standard for the 20-something/first marriage crowd. Did the bride have a full compliment of bride's maids as well? Was their the corresponding compliment of groomsmen? Actually, though, I guess I have been to a couple of weddings of older couples where they had best man and maid (well, matron) of honor only...

This was his third marriage. Her first. Yes, 5 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen.

Yes. A very low rent open bar, though. Jim Beam white. Dewar's, Skyy, Bacardi, and Jose if memory serves.

What was your pleasure (using that term loosely in the current context) amongst that rogue's gallery?

I'm surprised he didn't resort to mint juleps.

If there had been julep mix, I would have.

We decided to only have beer and wine at the wedding, not because of cost, but because I didn't want some of the rowdier, non-members going crazy.
Considering we went 4k over on the wine budget and 19 kegs were floated (6 in the first thirty minutes), I dare say everyone had a large time.

Hey DS, my middle son just got a pretty good score on the GMAT, and therefore might be coming to UNC for grad school. Fingers crossed.

Congrats. I am sure you will be able to afford it with the colonel's pension and federal salary...

DS's law firm probably billed the guests for the time they spent at the reception.

I went to FSU with Facundo Bacardi, heir to the fortune -

I didn't know him personally but he was a Theta Chi along with two of my roommates. I know it must have sucked to drive around campus in a Lamborghini Countach but somehow he managed.

Not quite correct. Major, not colonel. That's a reserve retirement, i.e, a part-time pension that starts when I turn 60. And the federal salary is about to become a federal pension, i.e., half a real paycheck.
Gentlemen, PT is financially in trouble.
