I don't know if it had been shown before or not but American Masters did a show on Johnny Carson. It was a great time capsule of America in the 70's and 80's.

Game of Thrones' recent episode, there was divergence from the books that made no sense to me :
Jaime killing his cousin seemed unnecessary

what was the plan there? :

1) kill the cousin

2) hope the guard strolls into the cell by himself without mentioning a word to anyone else on patrol

3) pray to the gods that the guard inexplicably turns his back to you (right after you have just committed homicide) to investigate your dead cousin's body

4) freedom!

someone please connect those dots for me
Honestly, I thought Lannister was smarter than that. It was an ill-formed plan.

It's not like he's been dead long...but I still wanted to reminisce about how uncomfortably funny his comedy was...

Saw the new movie adaptation of Shakespeare's "Coriolanus" last night. Thought it was well done. It is a Beeb movie production and if you've enjoyed some of the Kenneth Branagh adaptations, you will enjoy this in that they didn't translate Shakespeare into modern English, but they did make the backdrop modern Rome.

Ralph Fiennes as Coriolanus (Fiennes also directs). Gerard Butler as Aufidius. Brian Cox as Menenius. Vanessa Redgrave as Volumnia. I do not know the pretty redhead who played the wife of Coriolanus, but if she would have had a nude scene, this movie would be even better.

I've never read that play, but the previews looked good. What is Beeb?

Some at the theater last night were upset that they didn't translate into modern English. One guy sitting behind me angrily said to his woman, "I cain't un'erstan' a gottdamn thang they're sayin'."
