Much like eCat's hopes for the end of the UNC basketball program is tick's pipe dream of a Trump impeachment.

Amen. Crossing the IC is as perilous as crossing J. Edgar Hoover back in the day.

Thing is, if the white bathroom was full I could go to the colored's. It definitely didn't work the other way 'round though. That must have been a terrible experience, being denied by law a drink or a piss because of your skin color. Every fucking day. Hard to even imagine..
yes it is hard to imagine for anyone under 60
Not really. Our community had a "private" pool. It was "private" if you were black. Otherwise, you "applied," paid the piss-ant fees and joined. Your application was denied if you were black. There were pools in multiple locations around home that operated the same way.
Also, if you wanted to see a bunch of white conservatives get their shit in a wad, have a black man walk into their church on a Sunday morning. They didn't know what to do.

yeah the wording will be interesting
"go easy on him" does not mean "stop this investigation"
but leave it to the media to interpret things however they want when they set their mind to something
but trump has blown it--rest of year will continue with investigations and hearings culminating with the tv event of the summer--comey comes to congress again!!
the base will remain but his fringe republican support especially in blue states is toast making any meaningful political agenda dead in the water

I served at a small Anglican Church in Jackson MS between '86 and '89. A black young sales lady knocked on the church office door wanting to sell us a new copying machine. The secretary and I assured her that we never knew from one month to next whether we were going to be paid, so the chances of the church buying a new copier were near zero.
We had a nice conversation, during which I invited her to come to our church next Sunday. I noticed the secretary's eyes get really big. She told her husband, who told the parish council. For inviting a black person to our church, I almost got fired. The only reason I didn't was she never showed up.
Stuff like that happened a lot during our time in Jackson.

Ladies and gentlemen I feel it my duty to inform you that the man holding this revival is an imposter. He holds no papers of divinity from any institution recognized or improvised. He is altogether devoid of the least qualification to the office he has usurped and has only committed to memory a few passages from the good book for the purpose of lending to his fraudulent sermons some faint flavor of the piety he despises. In truth, the gentleman standing here before you posing as a minister of the Lord is not only totally illiterate but is also wanted by the law in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
Oh God, cried the reverend. Lies, lies! He began reading feverishly from his opened bible.
On a variety of charges the most recent of which involved a girl of eleven years—I said eleven—who had come to him in trust and whom he was surprised in the act of violating while actually clothed in the livery of his God.
A moan swept through the crowd. A lady sank to her knees.
This is him, cried the reverend, sobbing. This is him. The devil. Here he stands.
Let's hang the turd, called an ugly thug from the gallery to the rear.
Not three weeks before this he was run out of Fort Smith Arkansas for having congress with a goat. Yes lady, that is what I said. Goat.
Why damn my eyes if I wont shoot the son of a bitch, said a man rising at the far side of the tent, and drawing a pistol from his boot he leveled it and fired.

You do love your Cormac McCarthy.
I was in his favorite Knoxville liquor store yesterday, ftr. Toddy's on Kingston Pike.

I'd like to visit Knoxville and see some of the areas depicted in Suttree, although I'm pretty sure it's picked up a good bit since then...

It's all still there, except the Market House burned down a few years after the book came out. The TN river bridges, Goose Creek, shotgun houses on the south shore...there's a riverfront park named Suttree Landing. Suttree's High Gravity Tavern...a good effort at being rustic, if not exactly authentic. There are Suttree tours...meh.
You wouldn't be disappointed if you wanted to see some of McCarthy's haunts around here.

Hardly a pipe dream, sardis; more like a wet dream. And now with the news of Bob Mueller as Special Prosecuter - Comey's pal and confidant...hey, I oughta rub one out right now.

For a minute I thought AA had hacked into hedge's account. It was similar to "ATAPR," but this one was clever and literate.
