Poythress eliminates Duke...down to Memphis, Florida, Vandy, and Kentucky...

A no-brainer between those four.

Yeah, if he wants to learn and be successful in life, he'll go to Vandy. If he wants to be a broke, washed-up, out-of-work, drug-addled former basketball player, he'll go to Kentucky.

A-10 continues to shadow the Big East.
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... ource-says
The shuffling that will occur between the B-East and A-10 should be interesting. Who knows, maybe UC and XU will finally wind up in the same league.

So are they going to put "Xavier" on there or try to squeeze in "Musketeers". Wouldn't it make much more sense for UC to do this (color similarity aside)?

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
Cal wants Maryland
John Calipari weighed in on the issue of SEC expansion talk today, giving his notion of what the future of the conference should be. According to Calipari, the best plan for the SEC includes adding three new teams to the mix, Missouri, Maryland and Virginia Tech. He believes that eventually there will be four super-conferences and he likes the idea of a 16 that includes these three schools:
“I don’t think this stuff is done yet,” Calipari said. “I’ve said for months that there may be four conferences with 16 or 18 teams each. But I can tell you that the SEC at 13, 14 or 16 is going to be stable. We’re fine. If they’re going to add, I’d like us to go and get Virginia Tech, Maryland and Missouri to go along with Texas A&M. We’re not going to do anything at the expense of academics. You’re also going to see basketball step up in the next five years in the SEC.”
Calipari was the first person I heard suggesting that such moves were imminent and they have advanced on a timetable that is even quicker than he initially imagined. Whether we end up with four mega-conferences or five decent conferences and the Big East remains to be seen. But it is clear where Calipari would like to see the SEC headed and if the conference could pick up those three, I am behind it. All three would be fair to good football additions, but more importantly for me, all three have decent to very good basketball capabilities (especially Maryland). That should count for something and is almost certainly part of the reason Calipari floated those names today.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
why does anybody give a fuck about Missouri? is it the St Louis tv market? arent they one of like three schools that havent won a conference championship in the big three sports since Nc State?
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.

They won a tournament title 3 years ago.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

Va Tech? They don't have much following in most of Virginia. I'd think they would look at Cincinnati before Va Tech (perhaps not SE enough for them.

Stick to Rice and (sometimes) Duke, owlman. VPI doesn't have much following in most of Virginia? When were you in the state last, like 1986? Virginia Tech is all over the place in the DC area and that's like five hours from campus. Much bigger football following than UVa, and it's not even close.

Owlman clearly hasn't read the NYT:
http://thequad.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/0 ... ent-chaos/
One outside-the-box target: Virginia Tech. In addition to its natural (and quite avid) fan base in western Virginia, it also has some reach into Washington, D.C. and other relatively populous markets — enough for it to rank 13th in the country with 1.3 million fans.

Re: Ostensibly Hoops
I've got family in D.C. and many who live in the south suburbs (Dell City) and Richmond. Also, at one point, I almost moved to Norfolk (close friend now Dean at Hampton in Chemistry). In addition, former High School and medical school classmate in Williamsburg I visit at least once per year and I have a sister that graduated from Va Tech. Perhaps you're right, but I saw a lot more UVA than Va Tech.
