I personally think we're overrated at #5, and with Carolina's loss we'll probably jump to #4.

But if we're really the #4 team then this year is going to be filled with shitty basketball.

We can't guard our shadow this year. Pathetic defensive display. Shaka Smart coached circles around the "Hall of Famer" yesterday, trapping Paige at every opportunity, manhandling our soft bigs, and smartest/simplest of all: "Whoever Britt is guarding, take his ass to the basket."

Congratulations, Roy. We've played two true road games against unranked teams -- and been exposed by both of them.

Outside the horrendous rebounding display, we didn't play badly last night. OTOH, I doubt Texas will shoot like that again this year. Bilas made a good point last night, he said he thought Carolina was the best team in the country, but unlike some of UK's recent squads, it wouldn't take another teams absolute best game to beat us. I do think that was probably close to Texas's absolute best game last night, but it's pretty clear that we're going to have to play close to our best game to beat even a team like Texas's close to best game. We don't have much wiggle room this year. Certainly I don't see our team as anything near the level of our better teams under Roy, but we've got the pieces to make a good run this year. We just don't have the luxury of anybody having an off night and still having a good chance to win...

I know I'm spoiled and I shouldn't be this way but its kind of a product of our program. Since I really have no attachment to the players other than Poythress at this point I'm not excited about the team. I still watch the games but I do other stuff. I'm just not on the edge of my seat right now. There's a lot of reasons - the team isn't a final four team, we can't shoot - from 3 point and the foul line - its just fundamentally bad basketball everywhere and they are relying on talent to win the game. Plus the Bengals have a good team so I'm more excited about Sunday now than I am Saturday.

I suspect after Xmas when its cold and not much else is going on, I'll get into it and they'll be improved to the point where they look like a team. Right now it just seems all of college basketball sucks.

I did scare the shit out of the dog when Poythress dunked. Its been awhile since I screamed at the TV about a sports play.
