Have you been? My buddy is a big foodie (I told him about that place you were talking about awhile back, he has eaten there), he researches all these restaurants, I just go along. I wanted to go to Peter Lugar's, but they're booked up thru March (hard for me to believe, but we're only going to be there Friday and Sat. night, so maybe they are booked on the weekends). He said this place has two tasting menus, one for $185 the other for $295. I know he wants to do the $295 and I don't care either way, but I figure if we're going at all, might as well get the deluxe package. On a brighter note, at least for the pocketbook, he also loves brick oven pizza so I'll be able to get out of one meal that I'll really enjoy for relatively cheap...

Per Se is always in the Top 3 every year here. I've never been. It's the last one out of the Top 5 I have to get to. It's Restaurant Week here, so that explains the tasting, I guess.

Going to an absinthe party tomorrow night. A friend has bought several home absinthe kits (
http://www.greendevil.com/) and he swears they are as good or better than most commercial absinthe. I have had absinthe; brought some home from my last trip to Italy, and still have roughly half a bottle left. He also assures me that he has a surprise for me. I am hoping it's marijuana. I wish to relive that wild night at the Donna Summer concert so many years previous.
If I go blind or start laughing uncontrollably like one of the actors from "Reefer Madness," I shall blame Hedge. I'm not entirely sure how it would be his fault, but I am unwavering in my conviction. Regardless, I will have a report of the evening for those interested.

He just "spoiled" the surprise. It's not pot, its a goddamned plate of haggis and he wants me to do the address since I can sound "all Scottish and stuff."
Fuck.

I'm not doing it. Despite it being Burns' Night, and my well-known Scottish roots, I've never been a fan of Robbie. Great chieftain o' the pudding-race, indeed. And while haggis itself gets a bad rap, it's certainly not a dish that I love (it's not horrible, but it's not great, either).
Besides, American haggis isn't even real haggis.

I refused to eat Haggis when I lived in Edinburgh. They said it was mandatory before I left. I slipped out the country in cover of night.

It;s not that bad. It's not something that anyone would seek out, though.

It would've been cool if he had infused the absinthe with weed. I've got a couple of bottles of absinthe at home, but I don't really like it. Never liked liquorice...
