I'd vote for a yellow dog before I'd vote Republican (waits for the obligatory "well you did - you voted for Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Gore, Kerry and Obama" comments). FWIW, I was a delegate to the 1984 DNC as a college student - I was the only one who volunteered to represent Gary Hart in the caucus and he ended up winning the County! (Ironically enough, my dad was a card carrying Reagan-Bush voter, but he gave me a grand so I could go to the convention). So barring another Dixiecrat shift, I'm a permanent Dem.

WRT 54% of white women voting for Mitt . . . we expect that number to shift mightily in 16. One undiscusssed issue is the number of white women who left the Dems when Barry beat Hils in 08. We expect to get them back when we coronat - er, nominate Hilary.
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

White women haven't voted Dem since 1992.

Married older women tend to vote Republican. Single young educated women tend to vote Democrat.

This seems a lot like 2006 in reverse. Lame duck President now forced to wait out his last 2 years with a Senate & House highly stacked against him. May the Republicans' gains be as long lasting!

Fox's main page is pretty hilarious right now. Check it out before it's gone!

Wow. That was a blowout. The GOP has 52 seats and there are still some undecided races that were leaning R in the polls.

I knew people were disappointed in Obama, but I didn't think (and still don't think) that people suddenly fell in love with the Republicans. This was pure backlash against incompetence.

You KNOW it's bad for Dem's when a sitting Illinois governor gets voted out. They usually leave office in handcuffs and orange jumpsuits.

That's amazing. Looks like all those obituaries for the GOP were a little premature.

Like the plague victim said in Monty Python, "I'm not dead yet!"

In the above pic, the guy on the left, er, I mean the right is a Dem. The other is a Repub.

No. Got that backwards. Flip it.

Toe- There was never any doubt about Kasich winning. He was up in some polls by 20 points months and months ago. Fitzgerald was already an unlikeable candidate but once all the scandal stuff started breaking over the summer (possible sex scandal, driving for a decade w/o a license) he had no shot.

Curious side note that will get buried by the 'mandate' for Republican policies that this Election clearly demonstrated...

Minimum wage hikes were approved by voters directly in many states. Curiouser still, they won in Republican states. Alaska voted to raise the minimum wage by a margin of 67%. Arkansas by 65%. Nebraska by 59%. Even South Dakota voted to raise theirs to $8.50, well above the national requirement.

So while electing national level politicians who belong to a party that claims any raise in the minimum wage would be disastrous for the economy and tea party candidates who believe that the minimum wage should be abolished, the same voters in deeply red states are passing what's essentially progressive legislation.

Walker. Kasich's still mostly unknown nationally. Not as polished either.

Not so much 'mandate' for Republican policies as repudiation of Obola/Reid.
