A few random thoughts about Afghanistan:

1. WRT "listening to the generals": Your hero, the W, didn't listen to his generals before going into Iraq. Instead W listened to that chicken hawk dilletante POS moron SECDEF Rumsfeld, who thought it would be better to fight a war with one arm tied behind his back. So "not listening to your generals" cuts both ways.

2. WRT preventing Al Qaida from using Afghanistan as a safe haven: Al Qaida is fluid enough to move into any number of friendly radical Muslim thugocracies and setting up safe havens. They're already doing just that in Somalia. If we invade and start nation building in Somalia, they'll just move to Yemen. Or Iran. Or Moracco. Or Libya. Or Tunisia. Or Lebanon. Or Chechnya. Or Gaza. Or etc, etc, etc. Are you prepared to invade and nation build in all these countries?

3. Karzai's regime is a steaming turd. It is hopelessly corrupt, and shamelessly flaunts the very values that we are supposedly fighting to protect. His government recently convicted and executed a man for the "crime" of converting from Islam to Christianity. A regime that does that is not worthy of one drop of American blood or one penny of American treasure. I look forward to the Taliban hanging Karzai from a tall tree.

What I'm asking is what do you think we need to accomplish before we can leave Afghanistan?

Yes, lighter gray is ok. Darker gray is hard to read.
