Please, please, please find a way to work out a yearly Missouri-Arkansas matchup. I know we've been in a conference together with Mizzou for a lifetime now. (16 whole years, in which we played them a whopping 8 times!) Frankly, that was probably 8 times too many for my tastes, playing them every year is just another boring ass game.

It wasn't that long ago that the Saturday before Thanksgiving was one of the best days in sports. Now thanks to the greed mongers we have Bammie-GaSouthern, Aubie-Samford, Carolina-Citadel and whatever crapfest is being played in Hogtown.

Just some stats for Gundy and his 39-36 rant....

SEC has played and won 7 BCS title games. In those games the SEC has held the opposing team to an average of 22.6 pts below their scoring average. The SEC team has scored, on average, 15.6 points per game more than the opposing D scoring defense average. I also included LSU Oregon and LSU WVU from 2011 in those numbers since they have the fashionable offenses.

LSU-Okst would have fallen right in line with that. Okst would be held to the teens and LSU would be in the high 30's to upper 40's.

FSU was held 16 pts below their average and we scored 11.5 more than Def avg

Okla 2003 was held 31.2 below their avg and LSU score 6.2 more than Def avg

OSU 2006 was held 22.3 below their average and UF scored 30.6 more than Def avg

OSU 2007 was held 8 below their average and LSU scored 27.3 more Def avg

Okla 2008 was held 40 below their average and UF was held 0.5 less than def avg

Tx 2009 was held 19.7 below their average and Bama scored 21.8 more than Def avg

Oregon 2010 was held 30.3 below their average and Aub scored 3.6 more than Def avg

Oregon 2011 was held 20.8 below their average and LSU scored 17.8 more than Def avg

WVU 2011 was held 15.2 below their average and LSU scored 22.6 more than Def avg

That is why the SEC is undefeated in BCS title games.

Any time a team would be "pleased" to give up a min of 36 points...well, there's something wrong with that.

I do think it's shitty that OK State will not get a chance to play. But I think it's shittier for LSU that they essentially have to beat Bama twice to claim the title. Ultimately, the SEC probably would've gone along with a playoff a while ago but the Big10 and others have resisted so I can't complain too much.

No, they don't have to beat Bama twice. Just once, on January 9. If they had lost the 9-6 game, they'd still be in as a solid #2.

Stop. With. The. Logic.

What year was it The New York Football Giants won the Superbowl? They beat the Pats.

Anyway, they lost to the Pats to close the season. After they won, I didn't see them "sharing" the title with the Patriots.

Just sayin'...

2007. They will be relieved to learn that they get to claim half that Super Bowl.

Faulty logic - in the NFL you get 16 games to get ready for the playoffs - no one really cares about the regular season as long as you get the 10 or 11 wins to get in the playoffs.

In CFB - its supposed to be all about the regular season - therefore any loss is magnified especially in a game of the century - you cant lose those on your home field.

Except for Bama this year - heh.

Actually, it's excellent logic. It's the truth. Besides, Alabama is not the entity which placed Alabama in the BCSCG. It was the majority of the coaches, Harris poll voters, and computers giving us a higher percentage than Okie St.

Besides...we'll kick LSU's ass this time. Instead of 50+ yd fg attempts, we'll punt and let our defense outscore 'em.

Absolute idiocy.

-People DO care about the regular season in the NFL. But should the Pats get a share of the Giants 2007 Super Bowl? Of course not.
-In CFB, the regular season, your body of work, gets you to the championship game. You do not have to be undefeated.
-OkSt lost on Nov 18 to a 6-6 team. Alabama lost on Nov 5 to the #1 team. Yet the late loss to a team you were favoroed to beat by 30 is acceptable and the earlier loss to the #1 team in the nation keeps you outta the title game?

That's just stupid. Even for you, Prof.

I thought the majority of the computers had Oklahoma State ahead of Alabama. It was the people polls that had Alabama ahead of Oklahoma State.

I truly believe that if the OSU was Ohio State instead of Oklahoma State, or if the other 10-1 team were Oklahoma, Michigan, USC (in an eligible year) or Texas, they would be playing LSU instead of Alabama.
