Godfather and Godfather 2 are the greatest movies of all time. Godfather 3 was... tragic.

Probably too much of an off the cuff list, prof. How does a body leave off Goodfellas and Full Metal Jacket?
it ain't right

Agreed. Goodfellas and Full Metal Jacket belong on that list.
"Pauly didn't have to move fast for anybody."
"We are here to help the Vietnamese because inside every gook there is an American, trying to get out."
Mob and war movie genres should include Casino, Apocalypse Now and Patton.

Is there a comparable scene to this in Gone With the Wind? Oh maybe that scene where Scarlet dances with Rhett. Or where she falls down the stairs?
Who puts on a performance as good as Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, or Claude Rains in GWTW?
Speaking of this scene though...there were only three Americans with credited parts in Casablanca: Humphrey Bogart, Dooley Wilson (Sam), and Joy Page (the young Bulgarian woman). Nearly everyone else in the cast and extras was a refugee from Europe or from a country under attack by the Nazis at the time the film was being made. Very few were actually French, many were Jewish exiles, but the production of this scene had very deep meaning for nearly everyone involved in the production; supposedly half the cast had genuine tears.

Casablanca gave "I am shocked - SHOCKED - that..." to the world.

Both GWTW and Casablanca are down on the watchability index along with reruns of the Lawrence Welk Show.
