A breakaway comes with a heavy price up front, so look for the old kilt-wearers to keep the status quo whilst the young'uns look to regroup. Leonard's Loser (in a close one) "Yes"

My favorite scene in "Braveheart." We Irish have always had a fondness for our gloomy cousins to the east:

I'm glad my kinfolk elected to stay in the UK. I also glad that the vote itself got a promise of more autonomy from London. Scotland needs the UK, and the UK needs Scotland. Split governments over one island doesn't traditionally work well.

I am honestly relieved.

I agree. The margin of victory for the No vote was surprisingly large. Congratulations on the better outcome for all concerned.

Does this mean Longshanks still has his boot heel on the Scots necks?

Yes. Scottish misery is alive and well.

So I recently re-watched Casablanca for the first time in years...

Wow. Makes Gone With the Wind look like canned Alpo. Hedge is way wrong on this issue.

Although, point of discussion. Canned Alpo is a fine wet dog food product. If you had said, "a bag of Sam's Choice dog food," it would be closer to the truth.

Casablanca is a filet of Kobe beef. Gone With the Wind is a Banquet frozen 'salisbury steak' dinner.

GWTW is probably overrated, as accused, but it has a special appeal to Atlantans with an interest in history.

It's mostly a chick flick.

And Casablanca isn't? Don't get me wrong, it's a classic, but still, it appeals to every silly "romantic" notion that the most ardent fan of Jennifer Anniston movies could hope for...

You're honestly putting Casa in the same boat as GWTW?
