I wonder if that's why Kesey named the nurse in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest "Nurse Ratched"?

Today my wife and I watched a movie called Touchback. Its kind of a modern twist on It's a Wonderful Life about a football jock who had a full ride to Ohio St and then breaks his leg in the big game, marries a local girl and goes bankrupts on a farm- he gets a second chance to go back and do it all over again, and of course he has a George Bailey moment where the towns people rally around him and he is glad he doesn't change anything.
So anyway my wife and I are taking our regular walk around the neighborhood and we're having the "if you could change anything back in high school what would it be"
about 6 years ago my now deceased father-n-law came up to see us. He did it pretty regularly because the guy was a rock hound and this area is pretty loaded with shallow sea fossils.
Anyways, he is out with my wife and son while I was at work, climbing a cliff, loses his footing and lands head first on a rock. I mentioned it on here in passing but tonight my wife tells me.....and why she didn't think this was important enough to tell me at the time I don't know..... that her dad admits to her on the way to the hospital that he was a spook for the state department intercepting Russian communications while in Israel.
and only in passing does she mention to me with the point being - not "Hey did you know my dad was a spy?" but in "I wish he hadn't married that Salvadoran whore when he was spying in Israel".
I don't know, I guess the whole thing strikes me as funny.
Oddly enough my jewish brother-n-law told me he thought the old man was a spy but wouldn't ask him and I thought he was paranoid. I told a couple of his stories on here one time and Crow believed he was a spy too. It just never occurred to me because the guy led such a mundane life at home.
Of course he did take a rock to the head so he might have thought he was James Bond for awhile.
btw, my changed anything moment was "I should have fucked Missy Leatherman". Sadly, it was predictable , probably not unexpected from me in a discussion like that and certainly paled in the enormity of moment.
I'm really just killing time so I can watch the game and fast forward thru the commercials

http://www.major-malfunction.com/ is one of those web sites that reminds me of how woefully unprepared I am for either the zombie apocalypse or the day that the government decides that anglo-saxon white males should be eradicated.
