According to ESPN: Ingram is a 4 star recruit and had an offer from both Kentucky and Alabama

I'm not saying ESPN is wrong, it just that UK wasn't talking about this kid and we're usually all over that sort of thing.
Now we are after Brandon Ingram.

I'll be interested to see if we get Sulaimon, especially after one of the Kennedy-lover screeds is how we have good kids, good clean program (Don't look behind the curtain at the places Kennedy has been an assistant!)

According to Ingram, he had a tentative offer. Contingent on a release and a few other things.
247 has him as a three star. Didn't check scout or rivals.

Brandon Ingram is supposed to announce next week, I believe. I think he enjoyed being pursued by everyone (his final list is a who's who of college hoops: UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA and ... NC State). UNC has had a lock on elite Kinston players since Stackhouse and Jerry is really close to Brandon. However, I have felt, for no good reason, that Ingram might be going to Duke. He would have an open spot at UNC with Tokoto leaving but Roy isn't exactly the coach that welcomes freshman into guaranteed playing time even with plenty of spots open. Ingram, if he is a one-and-done and I'm not sure that he is, would be much better off at Kentucky or Duke, where he'll definitely get plenty of playing time.
I don't think he took an official visit to State, so I don't think the Wolfpack is really in this and I haven't heard much about Kansas or UCLA, so I think it's really down to Duke or UK. Ingram's a wiry inside/out player but I don't know how tough he really is.

What is killing Kentucky in recruiting right now is that we have Ulis/Briscoe at point, Poythress at the 3/4, and Skal at the 5. So the shooting guard spot is open, but I think these kids are concerned that Cal will load up and they'll have to share time.
We also have juniors in Willis, Lee and Hawkins who could probably hold their own now against a top 30 freshmen for minutes.
It worked last year because the players had already committed under the assumption the previous class was leaving.

He wants to stay close to home. Had it not been for the NCAA shit, he would have signed with UNC already. K has him scared about the NCAA. I think he ends up at Dook.

UNC is now looking at some 3 star shooting guard hotshot who had signed with VCU but now that Shaka is gone to Tejas, he's backing out of his commitment. I'd think I'd rather have him than Ingram. No doubt Ingram is the better player, but we need another player who can hit the 3. Jackson came on very well in the second half of the season, I trust him to take the long shot, and even Berry and Britt were decent last year. If one of those guys can keep up the progress in that area (and I think Berry will), that would give us 4 guys that can hit the 3 (Paige is already one of the better 3 point shooters we've ever had, and I think he'll hit alot more next year). We could actually be a legitimately scarey 3 point shooting team next year, which we haven't had since 2009. Here's hoping...

Of course, I would welcome Ingram, but the fact that he's vacillated this long, esp. in light of the undeniable fact that (as DS pointed out and he has said himself numerous times) he would've committed to UNC long ago if not for the NCAA thing hanging over them, makes me think he's not ours. Oh well...

how can a kid grow up being a UNC fan and then go to Duke?
If I were a UK fan, and UK wasn't an option for me, I wouldn't go to Louisville

I guess there are instances where its happened now that I think about it.
Rex Chapman and Rajon Rondo were both Louisville fans and went to UK.
I remember Metzger talking about how Rondo was plan B if they didn't get some kid and UL didn't get either that year. If UL had acted like they wanted Rondo, they may have ended up with the best point guard in the history of the program raised in their back yard.

Sadly enough, that happened with us and Chris Paul. A little different circumstances, as we already had Felton on the team, but man, I would have loved to have seen a backcourt of Felton and Chris Paul...

By the time these kids become elite recruits, they are no longer fans of any team. Only fans are fans.

Two years ago, Ole Miss basketball star Marshall Henderson failed a drug test ahead of his senior year and was suspended three games for the transgression. At the time, a number of media members were critical of the sharpshooter, who had a somewhat troubled college career. Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews was among them, and trolled him a bit on Twitter after seeing the news.
what has happened since is awesomeness
