I read through the Bama Scout board now and then for chuckles. There are guys over there, I kid you not, comparing this hire to Nick Saban. Others are thrilled that Bama "lucked out" that Gregg Marshall turned you down.

I was reading that some are worried Billy could leave for the pros. It's only rumor. But very possible the OKC and Chicago jobs will be open this summer...those are attractive spots
If Billy finds the right job for him in the NBA he's gone.

As a Mav fan for 30 years now I hated Avery as a head coach he was a control freak but that might work in college and he played at Southern and grew up in NO so he does have roots in the gulf area.

Maryland did it while ACC obviously and everyone else (pending Wisky) lost, but that's some interesting depth.
If you're going to use an arbitrary 13 years, why not go back 2 more and reap the credit for the Michigan State championship (whilst humming "Bringing In the Sheaves" to yourself)?

I feel bad for my UK friends in here, but rivalries and jealousies being the nature of sports fandom, I can't say I'm disappointed that UK lost. They were a very good team, maybe even a great team, but I would've hated for them to go undefeated and then think they were in the argument as one of the truly alltime great college teams, b/c they weren't. As has been said by a few in here and elsewhere I'm sure, they weren't even the best UK team under Cal, and probably not even the second best. I'd say the Anthony Davis team was clearly better and I'd take the Cousins team as well. And the way the 8 seed team got hot the other year and made it to the finals, I'd say they would have beaten this UK squad if they had played them when they were in tourny form. But none of that matters, the chance to go undefeated doesn't come around very often, certainly not for a team like UK. It would've been spacial and again, I do feel bad for my UK pals in here. At least you can take comfort in the fact that you didn't shit the bed. Wisconsin is a seriously good team and they played a great game last night. Still sucks, but at least you didn't blow it like the John Wall squad did against West Virginia....

The John Wall squad blew it because of Crow. I wouldn't be surprised if he had something to do with this loss, too.

Avery Johnson will make for high comedy, which is probably not what you're seeking if you're actually an Alabama basketball fan, but it'll be fun for the rest of us.

Well, everyone except Tokoto has confirmed they are returning. Tokoto is rumored to want to turn pro for some fucking reason. I guess he really wants to make 100k per year playing in cold, damp Eastern European gyms. This team could be like the '93 team in that the sum is far greater than the individual pieces. They just need that glue guy who can get a bucket, defensive stop or rebound in crunch moments like George Lynch. I am curious as to who that person will be.

From what I've seen, it ain't Tokoto. He has flashes of merriment, but where are his gibes now?

Thanks to a certain Kentucky fan for allowing me to knock a point off my bucket list and attend a NCAA championship game this evening. And thank Wisky for making it happen. I am happy with either team but would rather see Wisky do it for the Big 10-4 league.

So is false irony... reality?

it was happening a way opposite of its apparent purpose. That is, it appeared I was jabbing DSL when, in fact, it was self deprecation.

Please don't start another tiresome questioning on the word irony. We're all too busy to engage in foolishness.
