That's not sticking a mic in a player's face, that's a press conference, assuming that was the right clip. If you don't like talking to the media (and the rest of the world) after an NCAA-mandated 10 minute cooldown period, then don't go to the press conference.

Yeah, coming off the court or field, you're bound to get anything from an athlete after a tough loss but saying it in a press conference is a whole other deal.
That's sticking a mic in the face. I don't like it. The "press conference" nets zero. I've never seen one that was worth anything.

doesn't matter. It's an obligation as an athlete. But you're right, most of the time players and coaches just say the standard lines in pressers. In this instance, you got what you would normally get on an athlete's Twitter feed, so the mic in the face usually carries far less weight than social media.

I just feel sorry for the little African kids who are going to grow up believing that UK actually went 40-0.

I am so glad the fat twins lost they are two of the least deserving athletes I have ever come across and they are what is wrong with youth in America and basketball in general.

Everything about just is just wrong.

Half the Big10 has played in the NCAA Final in the past 13 years. Indiana (2002), Maryland (2002), Illinois (2005), OSU (2007), Michigan St (2009), Michigan (2013), and now Wisconsin (2015)

Maryland did it while ACC obviously and everyone else (pending Wisky) lost, but that's some interesting depth.

Typical UK fan. Probably gonna start out tomorrow by blaming the refs or the other team taking cheap shots and no calls being made.

Seems like Bama primarily wanted somebody people have heard of..."oh yes, that's the guy who once coached the Mavs"

He's never coached college and has no connections to Alabama, correct? And been out of coaching for three years...

His high pitched voice will send fear around the SEC.

I will say that the SEC does seem to be making a concerted effort to hire coaches people have heard of...even if it's because they've recently been fired

Ben Howland, Fred Barnes, now Johnson...

Wonder who the Gators hire next? Flip Saunders?

Are you sandbagging again, AA?

Reaction on Bama boards ranges from overly optimistic to insane. Some are comparing this to a Nick Saban hire, far better than Gregg Marshall could've been. These folks might not be aware that, unlike Saban, Avery has zero college experience and has been fired by two separate pro franchises.

I was reading that some are worried Billy could leave for the pros. It's only rumor. But very possible the OKC and Chicago jobs will be open this summer...those are attractive spots

No. I'm not sandbagging. I hate the hire. A washed-up NBA coach with no ties to college or the area?

Just f-ing awful.

As many openings in the NBA and in college the last three years? Fuck it all.

And, for the love of God, why would you visit a fan-based homer board?

I like to read what the 'real', salt-of-the-earth Bama fans think. Not you merlot-sipping, Faulkner-reading, Sunday NY Times Crossword aficionado-intellectual types.

All my friends and what few blogs I look at view this as a Shula hire.

Hopefully, he can Price himself out with a coed before he ever coaches.
