No way could he have a sliver of information on what needs to be in place to increase Americans' chances at accessing a fair shot at "the dream."
Having a smaller percentage of their income dedicated to necessities is a no brainer but the devil is in the details. LIke you said, what could he possibly say to address this? "You gotta make more money, folks!"

Well, no duh...

I would assume he thought the audience would be full of the standard neocon torch bearers who would cheer wildly for whatever non government regulation, <insert non threatening immigrant> who works two jobs and was able to send his kid to college, tax cuts, war is good for the economy speech he had laying around.

interesting tax plan by Perry. Should be pushing it as a tax simplification plan. Is it worth it to pay more for tax simplification. He pulled out the card (few remember that this (taxes on a card) was originally pushed hard by Jerry Brown in 1992 (or was it 1996). 20% not including the first $12,500. Personally, I think all below the poverty rate should be excluded. He's also keeping a couple of deductions (home mortgages and charitable giving). If he didn't allow an opt out, it might work. But the way it's going to work is by allowing an opt out, the revenue coming in is going to be largely decreased. At the same time, he'll allow the young to essentially opt out of Social Security.

It'll lead to big cuts in revenue.

my problem with it is , its essentially just another tax cut for the rich.

Someone was doing the math and told me with the effective tax rates, most people making less than $300K would just opt to keep their taxes the way they are under his plan while the wealthy would jump at the 20% rate.

So his tax plan is - same o' , same o' for 95% of America

plus he expect to get that 18% of GDP mandate and $900 billion in spending cuts . Even as a Ron Paul guy I realize that is a tough sell to congress.

Seniors (a huge voting block) would never get behind it. They largely have no tax liability now, they are not going to be onboard with picking one up.

well I think his plan is much more appealing to everyone relative to Cain's, but just like Cain's plan, once it is vetted past the sound bites people are going to see that it doesn't do much for them ( and in Cain's plan, actually makes them pay substantially more).

I generally see this as a hail mary by Perry who is on a sinking ship.

Yep, in a recent interview, Perry made mention of how he hasn't seen Obama's birth certificate. Talk about the stink of desperation.

Good. Hopefully we'll finally get to the bottom of that.

Well, I get to meet the girlfriend's family in Winston this weekend (Don't worry though, I'll be going to Chapel Hill to watch us get assbanged by the mighty Deac), and I've already been told by the girlfriend not to make any Jew jokes. She said that one of her aunts married a Jewish guy. Earlier, she had said that one of her aunts had married a Southern Baptist minister. I made a comment about her aunts having different tastes in men. She said, "No, it's the same one." Apparently, the Southern Baptist minister is a converted Jew.

His mother is still a practicing Jew. She comes to his church events to see the children but leaves if she thinks that they will mention Jesus being the savior and having risen from the dead.

What a fucking family...

the flat tax plan is just like gov't run health care: you either commit fully to it with no provisions or riders or it's not going to work.
