well...I think WVU might be learning a lesson about talking shit before a big game.
also, Huggins may have learned you don't tell the media you're going to make the game ugly because the refs read newspapers.
Game isn't over yet but this has the potential to be a UCLA type game if WVU doesn't figure out how to score.

Don't worry, they are now officially the Crimson Hawks, but I will refer them to their original true namesake.

You'll have to wait until my unfortunate death.

Go Big Indians!
One of their starters is a kid from here, Jeremy Jeffers.

Well that sucked. I really thought we were going to win that game until the point where we were up 7 and got a steal and then they clearly fouled Tokoto but refs didn't call it and Whiskey promptly came back and scored twice. We went from potentially being up 9 with under 10 minutes to go to only up 1. Still, we had our chances. Fuck...
And what was up with that Decker kid? Everybody talked about Kaminsky, but the Decker kid killed us in the first half. He got everything he wanted and then some. Oh well, we'll go undefeated next year (as always), but for now it feels like a huge missed opportunity...

Tennessee fired Tyndall. Looks like the NCAA must've said some unflattering things.

That non-call and subsequent exchange was the ballgame. People were trying to blame Roy based on him using Britt, but you can't fault Roy for this one. The better team won. They weren't that much better, but they were better.
I am worried that Jackson and Johnson will test the waters, learn that they will definitely be first rounders and declare. If they decide to wait due to the impending CBA implosion and work stoppage so they can go when there is more money to be made, next year will be a good year. They will be a solid elite 8/final four type squad, but unless they can get that killer mentality, they won't win the title.

Roy did a great job in the post season for the talent he had. He did get caught in the loyalty trap like most coaches by having Britt in there instead of Berry at the end. We'll see what he does next year with those two.
I think Roy also proved he is not too terrible with recruiting with the play of Berry and Jackson. It is not fair for critics to compare him to Calipari which is an outlier.

I don't know how successful Roy would be with a team dominated by one and dones. He isn't a great tactician, but he has the ability to mold a group into a team with defined roles over time.

"I think Roy also proved he is not too terrible with recruiting with the play of Berry and Jackson."
Agreed. Roy is good at getting pretty solid talent, just not the NBA-ready studs. The 2009 team was loaded with that type of talent, it just takes some time to develop it. Berry looked like he might be a bust early in the season, but he showed a lot down the stretch. A backcourt of him and Paige next year will be very good (with Britt being a serviceable backup). Too early to tell with Pinson, he was hurt most of the year, but I think he'll be alright too. Jackson should be very, very good next year. Hick, who knows, but if he's able to even give solid backup minutes (like he did this year) that's fine. Anything more will be a bonus. Hell, even Joel James has steadily progressed. I'm not saying he'll be starter quality next year, but it's nice to have a 6'10", 275 lb. (solid ass 275, not pudge like Meeks) senior to give you spot minutes in the post. We literally have everybody coming back next year, should be a good one...

i think marshal stays at wichita state and waits for the syracuse/carolina/kentucky/duke jobs to open potential for the elite jobs in the next 4-5 years.

If he's smart, he won't. As much money and much lower expectations at Bama.

Roy has recruited plenty of top-notch talent at KU and UNC. I've felt he's been a better recruiter than coach over the course of his career but he's facing something he's never had to face (at least not since his first year or 2 in Lawrence) with this NCAA thing hanging over UNC. Even if everyone returns for UNC, there's a big recruiting gap that will be a big issue in a year or 2. Getting Brandon Ingram would help that a bit but I'd be shocked if he signs with Carolina.
No, UNC is headed down a darker path. The NCAA is punishing them without punishing them. As long as this continues to be unresolved, the pain will be felt.
I don't think Gottfried is that great of a coach but he's getting better talent all the time. In just 2 years, State could be a lot better than Carolina. We could be seeing something in Chapel Hill that none of us 50 and under have ever witnessed. We'll see if UNC has the ability to recreate itself as Kentucky has done numerous times over the years.
