well - I will say only Cal knows for sure, but no one outside of that has been able to make any connection. The most anyone can do is make comments similar to Cletus.

UMASS is retiring Cal's "jersey" this year if that tells you anything.

I remember the hoopla way back when. There's a kid in our 3 county region who's been Mr. Basketball in Ohio 2 straight years and is a Duke commit. I can only imagine the pressures on him if it was back then.

the guy next to me at work took his kid to see Kennard play this year.

Never saw him play. Just follow his story in the paper. Seems like a good kid ready to handle it.

"That was completely unexpected so I just kind of drove for a minute trying to process what he just said to me and all I could do was "lets go get a sub sandwich"."

LMAO at the delivery of that scenario as well as picturing it as it happened. I can really see eCat sitting there dumbstruck, trying to figure out what to say but still keeping a poker face as they drive in silence...

I would be willing to bet Memphis fans said the exact same thing when Cal was coaching there.

Good ole teflon Cal. Real surprising how all this NBA talk is going on right now with that recent article and such. Be a shame if he bolted for the NBA and then Kentucky gets Shame 2.0.

I remember the Damon Bailey hype well. I hated him for the hype and especially after he became a Hoosier.

I saw that. I bet there were some tears shed when those letters were opened. A good number of the recipients are millionaires and I'm pretty sure almost none of them are hurting for money. Then to get a $200 check from Dean-o. Agreed, it was a nice touch...

Some were saying they would keep the check as a memento. Horrible, and goes against the idea that Dean had; i.e., having a good dinner with friends and remembering some happy times.

I mean it's not like Dean signed the check, and you will have the letter to frame of you wish, and I suppose you could Xerox the check, too, but fellowship and remembrance was what Dean was going for here - not some framed check from a law firm.
