got no problem with ignoring manmade global warming--not saying we don't contribute but geesus Christ the amount of green power influencing the last administration is castrating the common guy. we need cheap energy and more power.

if you think global warming is going to annihilate us I wouldn't worry to much--I can think of about 5-10 other causes of our annihilation much more likely

we will be able to adapt to a changing climate

I'd be all for a flat tax, of course, the CPA bund will fight that like the Insurance Bund fought Obamacare.

I've got no problem with gov't regulation that protects consumers, the environment, investors, ie, over private business interests. There's plenty of red tape in the health care business from insurance companies so it's not limited to govt'. However, there are plenty of areas in which gov't regulation could be reduced, I will agree.

Global warming/climate change should be addressed. However, there's no reason why a shift in policy should cost money. Hell, it should be making money as any new industry would but there's man-made opposition to that which should concern everyone.

You're going to get the same sermon from me. I'm only going to complain about the gov't but so much because it's the money behind the gov't that is causing the problem in our lives. I see Trump as an exacerbation, not a relief, to that situation.

While I like the idea of a flat tax, I think they'd screw over the people that need to itemize the most - young families just starting out with a house payment, medical bills, etc.,

All regulation that I can think of is the reaction to some malfeasance or overreach. The thing about regulation is that as time goes on, the regulations in place can certainly age out. That is appropriate approach to regulation reform, in my mind. Most times, when regulation is rolled back, though, it just means that the regulation is still effective but compliance oversight of good stewardship is placed back on the private sector...and history has shown that business cannot police itself. The pathology of business is too ruthless to be left on its own. That's always my concern about talk of regulation reform.

The 1940 Act was the result of the 1929 market crash. The 1974 ERISA act was the reaction to the 1963 Studebaker plant closing. SOX was enacted as a reaction to ENRON. DFA was the reaction to the financial crisis of 2008/9. On top of that, all regulation I can think of was spearheaded by a populace that was severely wronged by corporate malfeasance. Sometimes we sell our future for current gains.

I'll see what Trump does on the reg front, but my guess is it's going to be the Wild West again...so I'll try to grab my gains while I can. I expect many to get hurt, though...more hurt than they are right now.

to me vouchers may help a handful of dedicated students but completely screw over the remainder as well as hurting the community as a whole.

Yep, I'd hoped that a younger set of justices would bring us into the 21rst century, instead we get this dude who wants to take us back to the 1950's, if not 1850's...

Trump has appointed a cliamte change denier to head the EPA, a vaccine skeptic (RFK, Jr) to chair a committee to investigate vaccine safety, and now Jerry Falwell, Jr, a young earth creationist, has been asked to lead a higher education task force. We'll be lucky if the slide ends in the 1850s. This fucker is moving us back to the stone age.

He let the world know that Fredrick Douglass has been doing a great job. This guy is not only a dangerous racist but he's also incredibly stupid.

Maybe it's a comedy act. His remarks about Fredrick Douglas remind me of Norm McDonald talking about Hitler: "You know, the more I hear about this Hitler guy, the less I care for him"...

I haven't heard the remarks about Douglas but what is the over/under on the media ginning up anti-Trump protesters over something related to Black History month?

I'm sure Trump will say or do something that will justify a protest.

If CNN or the NYT has anything to do with it he will.

I really don't think CNN or NYT or any other media outlet has that kind of influence or anything close. Face it, a lot of folks are just pissed off about Trump. CNN has nothing to do with it...
