no fucking way would I ride out a Cat III within 3 miles of the coast.

inland isn't so bad but if you have above ground power lines you can pretty much count on not having power for a few days. Been there done that in August before.

I don't like trying to use a generator to power a fan to keep sweat out of my ass crack.

Well, this would be about 30 feet from the coast...

I'll look for the scrabble board floating out to sea

It'll probably wash ashore in Morocco where some Arab will use it to beat his camel.

I've stayed at that Sheraton in NO twice. Popular conference site and the beds are extremely comfortable...

I went down for Ivan and Isabel to observe firsthand the mighty power of nature, they were both fairly rough (rough enough that their names were retired), but Irene is reportedly going to be of a different magnitude. I'm still debating on whether to go down there and ride it out...
Please go. Try body surfing.

I have three cases of Natural Light (thanks to Food Lion having them on sale for $9.99 each a few weeks back), a 5000 watt generator, an ex-girlfriend with whom I am attempting to reconcile (I didn't want her staying alone in Greenville during the storm), my parents and two of their friends who will be staying here as well to keep me company tomorrow during the storm....

I think the folks in Virginia should now be on the lookout for an asteroid.

Sounds like an ideal situation to "reconcile" with your ex...
